Hello all, please help me find skirts that will suit me for the summer! I’m 5’2 and currently a size 14-16 but I find that most midis and ‘floaty’ lightweight skirts swamp me and make me look bigger. Any advice or pointers appreciated. TIA

Sorry I cant help but I'm hoping other people can as I'm the same size and height! (Well I'm 5ft1 but close enough!)

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 29/06/2019 20:55

Sorry , I've come for the advice too. I'm 5"3 with little stumpy legs.

I'm 5ft2 and have bought ones from M&S, F&F, George, Next and they are all fine on me 🤷‍♀️

There was a nice navy midi skirt that ive seen in the Hush sale for £30 ish which was really lovely quality.

Its not too bulky or super long, so was flattering and might work

(nb this sounds like another Hush ad but it's not! I bought it and reluctantly returned because not right for me, but thought it was a good one!)

I bought some midi skirts from Boden last year in petite that I really liked.

I have an A line Crew khaki pocket skirt- available in other colours also. It appears as a short skirt on the model but knee length on me! V flattering.

secondwind · 30/06/2019 12:58

Thanks all. I've they read that A-line skirts are supposed to be v flattering so I’ll look into that.

I am 5 foot 3, I find if they are not to full they look ok,

I’m 5’2. I think it doesn’t matter what your size is, it depends on your proportions instead. You need a waist for a midi skirt. Apples need not apply. You also need a fitted or cropped or tucked-in top to show said waist. And Topshop do a decent petite range.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 30/06/2019 18:05

And midis are better on people with nice ankles too. If you’re slim but have cankles and don’t go in at the waist, you’re essentially showing off your worst bits. I love them - I’m hourglass/pear with fat thighs and they hide my thighs without making me look shapeless.
