Mascara smudges

Another beauty question from me. My mascara keeps giving me panda eyes / smudging on my upper and lower eyelids in the hot weather. I use Lancôme hypnoses which is great but should I switch to waterproof? Will waterproof make my eyelashes shorter? X

I was about to post and say a tubing mascara, but I have found it pulls your eyelashes out a bit.

I use Lancôme hypnose too and find I need to do a quick q tip swipe by lunchtime at work. Great mascara but it can go a bit smudgy in sweaty weather
