Hypoallergenic earrings

As I get older I find my pierced ears increasingly intolerant and now have to wear hypoallergenic earrings. Studs and small, discreet earrings are easy to find, but if anyone could recommend drop earrings or something larger, with a bit of presence I would be very grateful.

I love dangly earrings and miss wearing them. I'm happy to pay a bit for them as I will get a lot of wear out of them.

Hypoallergenic jewellery is any jewellery made from pure metal, so titanium, gold, platinum, sterling silver, fine silver. Nothing plated, no vermeill. Just the solid metal.

There are literally thousands and thousands of solid metal pieces you can buy. If you're allergic to a specific metal then don't buy that one.

Thanks, I wish I knew what I am allergic to! I assumed it was just nickel or whatever is prevalent in cheap earrings but I also have issues with silver

If it's silver which causes the issue, then just check that it's really sterling and not a lesser mix.
Try googling for titanium and aluminium earrings. You can get some really bold anodized aluminium pieces. Just make sure they havnt used a plated ear wire.

Big metal London sell nickel free dangling ones

I sympathise. I react to stainless steel and surgical steel, and sometimes silver. Ones that claim to be hypoallergenic usually aren't for me.

Weirdly, Primark earrings are usually ok, have you tried those? I've read posts in various FB groups recommending them for people with sensitive ears and they have hardly ever caused me any problems - I have quite a few different pairs.

I also have a pair of straw ones from Aldo that I can wear all day. These ones are nice.

I have metal allergy, if it's a watch strap or the back of metal button I cost it every so often in nail varnish and it stops the metal touching the skin

Myself and my daughter have this problem. Nickel allergy and led to one of my daughter’s ears getting badly infected. M&S have brought out an hypoallergenic range and so far not had any problems. She loves wearing hoops and they’ve been fine.
