Best gradual fake tan?

Trex94 · 25/06/2019 22:21

My legs are exceptionally pale. When I put gradual tan on them it usually takes 4 applications until they show a bit of colour but then as soon as I get in the shower it comes off!! Does anyone know of any good gradual tanning lotions that will stay on?

Bondi Sands gradual milk. Turquoise pump bottle. Use a mitt.

Opossooom · 26/06/2019 15:28

Dove! LOVE IT! take time applying it and get the medium to dark, I looooooove it, but I have normal skin they can all depend on your skin and how well it takes to the development xo

DryWhiteagainW · 26/06/2019 18:46

St Tropez.....brilliant stuff

AskMeHow · 26/06/2019 22:41

I second dove. I usually use the medium fair, but I think if you apply a lot it can be a bit orangey. I overdid it last summer and looked a bit tango for a week. Don't use it every day is my advice.

Garnier Summer Body. I use the light one, it’s very natural & it doesn’t streak.

Palmers gradual tan. Actually smells decent.

Gottoloveabagel · 27/06/2019 17:52

@Opossooom I put some Dove on the other day and my daughter said I smelt like I was vaping 😂

Sparklyring · 27/06/2019 19:48

I put a couple of pumps of Lancome flash bronzer in my moisturiser for tanned legs and it gives a lovely glow.

whymewhyme · 27/06/2019 19:49

Palmers is brilliant!!

whymewhyme · 27/06/2019 19:50

Also love the dove but the palmers for me is better

LovelyinTheAfternoon · 27/06/2019 19:52

I've just bought St Tropez in the brown tube which is an instant tan and fake tan combined so your skin is coloured from the word 'go' , then the fake tan works under it like other fake tans.

For once I've got a non-streaky finish and it looks pretty natural.

I am very pale and needed it to cover thread veins too.

Be warned that it does come off on clothing - it says wait till touch dry to dress, but I found my knickers were coloured where they'd touched by legs (going to the loo!) and luckily I was wearing old jeans.

You need to wash it off before going to bed or touching light fabrics/ furnishings.

KathleenW · 27/06/2019 20:13

I like Dove - I usually use fair/medium but accidentally bought the medium/dark and then tried it anyway and it looks good! Not dark at all but like 3 applications of the light, only quicker.
I am very pale and think it gives a nice colour. They all smell a bit funny but I put some coca butter on all over the next day and somone said I smelt lovely.

lb2610 · 27/06/2019 20:42

I have tried numerous tanners and gradual tanners and I now swear by bondi sands. The lotion in the blue bottle that smells of cocoa butter or the oil in the brown bottle that smells of coconut. Both of these are easy to apply and you get instant colour after few hrs.

GroggyLegs · 27/06/2019 20:46

Bondi Sands gradual tan.

I'm a fake tan junkie (oh the shame) and this is my all time favourite. Added bonus that it doesn't smell of warm B.O.

blibblibs · 27/06/2019 20:55

I'll second, third, fourth the Dove. I have both, use the darkest one at the beginning of the week and then top up a couple of times a week with the lighter one.

Evianne529 · 27/06/2019 20:58

I agree about Bondi Sands in the blue bottle. Unlike Dove you can do it everyday and it doesn't go orange, plus you can be very quick and it doesn't streak (but use a mit). When it fades it does just fade, rather than crumble away in patches.

dopamax · 27/06/2019 20:59

St Tropez in shower mouse is fantastic and use there gradual face tan it reflects light making skin look youthful and glowing

TheWayOfTheWorld · 27/06/2019 21:33

I am also pale and really like Bondi Sands. If I have time (and am organised) I use the light/medium mousse which I shower off after 6 hours to create a nice base and then use the daily tanner mousse every night to keep it topped up.

I use a mitt for the shower-off mousse but just my hands for the daily one.

legfaced · 28/06/2019 06:39

Isle of paradise drops - add to your own moisturiser.

evilharpy · 28/06/2019 07:03

Skinny Tan Body Glow is great stuff. I put it on a couple of days in a row and then after every other shower to maintain it. It doesn’t streak. But does have that fake tan whiff as it develops.

Figroll16 · 28/06/2019 07:26

Bondi sands all the way!

Branster · 28/06/2019 10:47

Palmer’s gives a nice deep golden colour without an orange tinge no streaks and it lasts well. It’s usually on offer for £3-4. I personally find the smell too strong and not very nice so I apply it three times a day on a day when I know I won’t be going out then shower in the evening and the end result is very natural. If I exfoliated beforehand and moisturise every day it usually lasts for nearly a week.
I bought the dark Dove last time because Palmer’s wasn’t in stock and Dove was on offer. I like this very much as well because it gives a nice uniform colour not super dark but natural. It doesn’t smell as the day progresses but I find it takes ages to dry out and towels were unbelievably stained when I showered in the evening. It lasts well like Palmer’s.
I do favour Palmer’s though (despite the smell which I grin and bear for 1 day) because it absorbs very fast and it is also cheap when on offer.
