Help me find a dress for wedding!!

BelleEtoile · 25/06/2019 12:50

I need help please!!
I'm 6 weeks post partum and have a family wedding in 3 weeks.
I need a dress!

I have avoided buying anything as I wasnt sure how lumpy and bumpy I would be (I was very optimistic that my body would spring back to my normal size 12 but as its DC3 I should have known better!!)

I'm 5ft5 and a look very pregnant - should I be looking at maternity dresses?
I'm a large size 14-16 pear shape (large tum, bum and thighs) and very lumpy and bumpy.

It is going to be a very stylish, classy wedding and want to try look less of a wreck and blend in with the effortlessly stylish ILs.
I'm combination feeding one day at a time at the moment but could have stopped bf by the wedding so nursing access is not a deal breaker.
I have a light tummy control slip i could wear underneath that might smooth bumps. Its going to be a very long and busy day so not sure I could tolerate spanx et al.

Colour wise I would like to avoid reds and pinks as I have rosacea and often look like a raspberry despite industrial strength makeup.

I will also be wearing low heels as no doubt I will be running after children.

Can anyone find me a miracle dress?

I've just bought a dress from Bombshell - waiting for it to arrive. Apparently they are very figure flattering. www.bombshellhq.com/collections/dresses

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 12:54

I should have said that I'm attending a wedding too!

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 12:58

Here's one of their blue dresses:

Ooo they are nice! I have never heard of that label
A little expensive - I wonder what they are like IRL quality and fit wise.

Buyers seem happy enough but I'll find out soon enough! The dress was pricey but I haven't been to a wedding in ages and I'm feeling body unconfident at the moment. It's more than I'd usually spend but the wedding is next month and I can't face trawling the shops to find something to fit and that I like. I got shoes in a sale and a bag already.

MissSmiley · 25/06/2019 14:01

A friend of mine wore one of these recently and was very happy with hers, she looked amazing in it

BelleEtoile · 25/06/2019 17:18

@Lisette1940 that's exactly how I feel!!
Can you please let me know what you think when the dress arrives

imsorryiasked · 25/06/2019 17:36

Would wide leg trousers and a floaty top work?

imsorryiasked · 25/06/2019 17:41

Or perhaps this dress from phase 8?

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 18:04

I will BelleEtoile

BelleEtoile · 25/06/2019 21:04

I love the Adrianne dress, wondering if I have an occasion I could make up to buy it!!

BigBairyHollocks · 26/06/2019 09:01

I am a size 14-16 and got his for a wedding recently, was actually far nicer in my curvier figure than on the model. My tummy and hips are my worst areas and if fit beautifully www.phase-eight.com/sale/

BelleEtoile · 26/06/2019 12:37

@belleEtoile similar dresses to Bombshell - never heard of the company but have a look.

TigerJoy · 27/06/2019 00:41

Phase Eight. I've got a similar figure to you and I found an amazing dress there last year. You need to try things on as their fabric and sizing varies wildly - you can't tell what will suit. I wear anything from a size 14-18.

I'd recommend vibrant accessories if they're your thing - they can make you look bolder and more put together, and I always feel they detract attention away from my figure!

Lisette1940 · 27/06/2019 13:50

Okay quality and fitwise the Bombshell dress is great. I thought I was a little in-between 16 and 18 but I'm definitely an 18 . The material is a good heavy weight.
