Oh help! Dress for my 40th party. On Saturday!

DH and my friends are having a party for me on Saturday night. It turns out it’s going to be distinctly more than I’d bargained for, which is absolutely lovely, but I have bugger all to wear! And not much left in the wallet this month.

I’m a pear shaped 16, just over 6’, normally wear lots of Boden / leggings and dresses. Love maxi dresses and kind of had a vague idea of getting something sequinned or floral. But don’t want to look like a sausage in a frock, nor mutton dressed as lamb.

However, it’s on Saturday- and I live 20 miles from a major shopping centre, so will need to be online.

If it could double for a summer wedding and a works drinks do, that would be an added bonus.

Any ideas? Any help gratefully received. £50 or thereabouts budgetwise - I’ve been scouring the sales but no joy so far.

Lindybop? There was 25% off everything yesterday so may still be on. Nothing costs more than £50 even full price!

Lots of florals here:

Would you go for something like this? It’s out of budget but trying to gauge your style

I also really like this one, could definitely double for the other events

Love love LOVE the first one - bang on the mark @curiositycreature - except for the budget 😂

Something like that...

I do like that look @Iamtooknackeredtorun but have worn that style quite a few times and they’re never quite long enough in the back so the waist is too high...sorry

You led me down an ASOS hole @curiositycreature - what do you think of this one?

Can't tell if I'm now just getting a bit desperate or have stumbled upon The Dress.

I like that a lot! I’ve just had a similarly pleated dress arrive and it seems to be really flattering. Hides a multitude 😉

That dress would work well for the other events you talked about. Really summery and pretty.

Thank you SO much, I'd never have gone on ASOS if you hadn't posted that dress. Never shopped there before. Might have to from now on Grin

Got a 'back up' - a sequin top just in case the dress doesn't fit. I've got a couple of long silk skirts I could wear with that top. Didn't want to be left with a last minute panic.

Do you know how quick they usually are with delivery? I've ordered, but paying for next day seemed a bit OTT as I don't need it til the weekend.

It can take a while, the one I got today took a week! If you pay for next day delivery I’d recommend considering the annual pass. that’s what I had but it recently expired. You can order up to 9pm so it works really well for last minute panics! Food for thought if you think you may end up ordering again.

Glad you found something Smile hope your party is great... it’s lovely that your DH and friends have gone grand for you.

I just went back in and cancelled the original order and put it on click and collect, latest pick up date of Saturday so fingers crossed!

Thank you - I'm a bit overwhelmed to be honest - but at least now I'll be suitably attired Grin
