Dressing for work in the heat

Hi! I wondered what people wear to work in the hot weather. I work in an office environment but lots of walking around, interacting with different age groups (sort of like a school, but not).

I am a size 10/12, quite short and a pear shape. I struggle so much to dress for work in the warm weather!!

I usually wear culottes or a midi skirt with a top tucked in but need to broaden my horizons. I don't need to be super formal but I work with a lot of teenagers so needs to be appropriate for that.

Some examples of your outfits would be good?

I like a cotton shirt dress for workin the summer. Cool but looks smart. Otherwise linen mix wide legged trousers and a silk blouse.

I wear stuff like this and I work in a similar environment.

Watching with interest. I work in similar, office but also with the public. I find footwear difficult in the summer, I don’t have particularly nice feet so feel conscious of having my toes out. Clothes wise I’ve bought a midi skirt and think I’ll get a maxi skirt but I’m a bit stuck.

Come to Yorkshire. Winter clothes still going here, wellies particularly so!

I think for work it's professional to keep the toes covered. I'm a scientist so we have to have our toes covered with leather for safety reasons so with trousers I wear laceup leather lined shoes (so no need for socks) or loafers or mules (which is stretching the rules somewhat so kept for days when I'm not going in the lab).

Linen dress for me with low heeled courts or pointy flats
No toes allowed in my workplace

Today I had on a black and white floral phase 8 dress with black pointed flat shoes
Started out with a black lightweight cardigan but too warm by mid morning

I saw loads of women today on my commute wearing wide black cropped trousers, they all looked great.

I saw loads of women today on my commute wearing wide black cropped trousers, they all looked great, very summery and cool esp when worn with sandals.

Move to Scotland, we actually had floods today there was so much rain.

On warm days I wear culottes or cropped wide leg trousers, midi-skirts, both with tucked in top, or midi-dresses. I got a couple of really nice patterned midi skirts from Monki lately.

These are all really helpful thank you! People do wear sandals at my workplace but I don't feel very professional in them so end up in flats normally which don't suit a lot of skirts.

I wear flip flops to my office job, it’s not killed anyone but my feet are pretty and don’t smell
