Perfumes that really last

I think my skin is weirdly porous or something because perfumes never last on me for more than an hour or so. It's not a case of my nose getting used to a regular scent as I have a number of different bottles and never wear the same one more than one a week.

I really want a perfume that can still be detectable by lunchtime. The only ones I've ever found that do this are Chanel no.5, and to a lesser extent, Vivienne Westwood's Boudoir, but I'd like more variety.

Any suggestions for really tenacious scent? I'm pretty open to most smells (with the exception of Angel which I find utterly vile).

Tom ford perfumes are good for staying power and smell amazing too.

You need a perfume oil such as Perfume Parlour or BPAL
For spray perfumes, use something high quality like Chanel or Bond No. 9
You can use the matching body creams before spraying the perfume on or applying something like Vaseline before spritzing on.

I've had perfume parlour oils previously but never found them to have more stating power than the originals, sadly.

I have the same problem. Tom Ford anything only lasts a couple of hours on me. Ditto most of the Perfume Parlour oils.

All Chanel scents I’ve used have had decent longevity. Weirdly, JLo Glow lasts all day although it’s not my favourite. The Perfume Parlour Gloria dupe also lasts all day. Paul Smith Rose is quite good. Estee Lauder Sensuous lasts longer than most but not all day.

Oh and funny enough the Aldi dupe of Pomegranate Noir lasts flipping ages on me, far longer than the JM original. Unfortunately it also gives me a headache and they only sell it occasionally.

The Primark versions of Jo Malone scents seem to be quite strong and last ages on me.

I have the same problem I love Jomalone Oud and Rose but it lasts 30minutes if that!

Can highly recommend miss Dior absolutely blooming. Smells lovely and stays on all day. Have met people after work after putting it on in the morning and have had comments asking what perfume I'm wearing.

You need an eau de Parfum rather than an eau de toilette for ranges which offer them.

Jo Malones will not last because they're colognes by and large which are even less lasting than an edt. PP dupes last much longer.

Anything with citrus/ozone notes will also not last due to the volatility of the ingredients.

Dh bought me a perfume that seems to last (sadly, am not ever so keen on it) it's Van Cleef and Arpels eau de parfum.

Try Nuxe Perfume PRODIGIEUX. I can always smell this on me at the end of the day. You can layer it up with the dry oil too which is equally divine.

Can usually get in larger M&S for trying a squoosh. Then they do smaller travel sizes so you can try it and see if it works for you.

I have 25 perfumes and these ones last ages:

Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle- a musky rose based perfume is the strongest I've found.

Soir de Lune by Sisley- another rose perfume with a honeyed note.

Black Orchid by Tom Ford.

Teint de Neige by villoresi- a powdery scent which smells like vanilla and lipstick.

Alaia- the original version in black bottle- leathery rose and spicy.

Oud satin Mood by Francis kurkdjian- beautiful out and vanilla.

Private Collection (the old original not the tuberose gardenia one) by Estee Lauder

On the whole heavier spicy scents will last longer- light floral rarely last.

Second the Tom ford recommendations. They are expensive but they really do last. The other one I have which I can still smell mid afternoon is aromatics elixir by Clinique. It's quite a strong scent though so if you don't like the likes of angel it may not be for you

I've previously worked in fragrance (not for one specific brand) and I would recommend La vie est belle by Lancome, Alien by Thierry Mugler or Gucci Guilty intense by Gucci for longevity. They are all quite sweet fragrances just to warn though.

The Tom Ford spicy ones will last. But as with all citrus based scents, Neroli Portofino etc won't. Ditto with Chanels and any other brand. It is all down to the ingredients and the formulation.
That said, it's obviously a rule of perfumery that anything you try that repulses you at first sniff will linger on you even if you scrub yourself with Vim.

I find Flowers by Kenzo to be very long lasting, if I spray it on a top for a night out I can still smell it on the top the next morning. I have a friend who wears it too and I can smell it on her all night when she’s wearing it.

I'd second the Nuxe oils and add Deep Red or Gucci (the original of both, although they are very strong so possibly an acquired taste!)

Penhaligons halfeti lasts forever on me as does vaara and Kensington amber they are all eau de parfum

The Perfume Parlour dupe of Portrait of a Lady lasts forever. I can still smell it the next morning - on me and the bedclothes.
