Looking for something similar in style but don’t want something that opens all the way down. Want to be able to carry lots of stuff, be able to open the zip without having to lay it flat to ensure stuff doesn’t fall out.

Anyone good with rucksacks?

This may be too obvious a suggestion, but just don’t unzip it all the way down?

gotmychocolateimgood · 21/06/2019 20:29

Not helpful sorry but I was expecting something a lot cuter than that 😊

PerspicaciaTick · 21/06/2019 20:45

I agree with thislido, have the zip tags live in the middle at the top of the bag and just pull them as far as you want. Or put a couple of stitches across the zip at the lowest point you want it to open, so the zip can't drop any lower.

LucidDream · 21/06/2019 20:45

I have one of these bags, and you can just open the top when it's upright. You dont have to lie it down every time you want to open it Wink
But I love the option of being able to open it right up, because it makes it so much easier to find things lost at the bottom of your bag Grin

thislido · 21/06/2019 20:58

I was expecting some kind of novelty cake shaped bag.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 21/06/2019 20:59

I also only opened the thread for confectionery-shaped handbaggery.

gotmychocolateimgood · 21/06/2019 21:30

Glad I'm not the only one disappointed by lack of doughnut shaped accessory! 🍩

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 21/06/2019 21:36

I thought I'd be inspired for dd's birthday present Wink

Sorry no fun donut bags!!! Just the brand. I have found in the past with bags with zips all the way done that they aren't good when you have a tonne of stuff in them. Often Im on the move, and just want to quickly hold the bag and get something out without worrying that the side zips are going to come down. I would prefer something where zip stops half way so that anything contained at the bottom of the bag doesn't fall out Don't think I would be any good at putting stitching in.
So - does anyone have any suggestions for any other back pack bags that look similar in style to this? Need to have good sturdy straps, not the thin ones that dig into you.

What is the primary use if the rucksack for?
Hiking? Day to day stuff?, work?, carrying kids stuff in?

Cockadoodledooo · 26/06/2019 12:36

The American Vintage one on their page looks kind of similar but appears to be buckle opening at the top rather than zip.

My work rucksack has v comfy straps and is great for carrying heavy stuff for a while, but it came from Halfords so I suspect is not quite the look you're after Grin

Snappyteabread · 26/06/2019 13:37

It would be to use for being out and about with the kids or out myself. So normal purse, keys, but also enough room for a hoodie, some snacks, water bottle, a book, some carrier bags, and the other random bits and pieces

I need to have a zip rather than Buckle opening. When I need to open the bag, I don't want to be faffing up with buckles.

Ideally Im looking for something that is really functional, but looks nice too.

I meant to add it's in a couple of different sizes so dont be put off if you think that looks too chunky.

swimwithaview · 26/06/2019 14:19

Presumably you're not keen on the Eastpak look? These ones have padded straps and come in about a billion colours.

This one has leather bits and a similar colour:

These open up like Fjallraven Kanken bags which my DD has and it's much easier to access items than a normal back pack.

notacooldad · 26/06/2019 15:59

The Kanken range is excellent but if anyone decides to buy one please make sure the site you are going to isnt fake.
I was going to suggest Kanken before and typed in Fjallraven and it took me to a site that looked like theirs. It suggested their was a sale on and the bags was reduced to about £23. You know the adage, if it looks to good to be true.... .. that applies here. I dug a bit deeper and it was a site called ' britishbackpacks' or similar.
I've just tried looking on my iPad ( I was on my phone before) but I'm getting the genuine Fjallraven sites.
