What watch?

I’m looking for a new watch and seeking some inspiration! Has anyone seen/got a lovely watch that would fit the bill:

-More masculine than dainty (utilitarian is fine but not too sporty)
-For day to day wear rather than evening
-silver rather than gold case etc
-mechanical rather than quartz

Any models or designers anyone can suggest?

It’s an investment and hope it to be worn a lot for years to come. Budget is 2-3k.

Thank you Smile

I have this beauty for everyday wear

Oops ignore me, just saw your budget!

Guiltypleasures001 · 20/06/2019 21:43

I have various Michael Kors men's size watches, but for ladies I love them

Swiftier · 20/06/2019 21:44

@managedmis thank you! Having a look at the FC website now. What sort of thing are you looking for?

@RockysMa thanks! Probably looking for more of an investment watch.

@Guiltypleasures001 thank you will look at MK. A friend has one and it wasn’t to my taste but I’ll have a look on the website!

@Swiftier I have a couple of Tag Heuer watches and absolutely love them from a quality perspective. They're proper sports watches (I have an Aquaracer that is waterproof to 300m so I can dive with it) but they're very beautiful as well, and look good in the daytime and evening. They're pretty classic too so unlikely to look dated. I have the one below but you can get one with just diamond dots on the face if it's too blingy for you (also brings it well within your budget).

And actually they look much nicer in real life than photos - you can't really see the mother of pearl dial and the diamonds look flat . . . I reckon you need to go to a luxury jewellers and try lots on, you lucky thing! Have fun!

Swiftier · 20/06/2019 21:55

Thank you @RedPandaFluff do like that one - not too bling as fairly simple! I actually already have a not completely dissimilar diving watch so looking for something a bit different (should have said that in my first post!) but will have a proper browse at TG. Definitely need to go try some on, just hoping to get some ideas to narrow down where to go shopping 😊

With 2-3k buy a proper watch not a brand like MK.

Have a look at second hand, you can get some good deals especially in this market.

Swiftier · 20/06/2019 22:03

Thanks @cupofteaandcake are there any vintage sellers you’d recommend?

You said you want something different so how about a watch from Mr Jones? Well within your budget (although they do also sell a limited selection of budget busting vintage watches). You can search by mechanical, London-made etc. They have a shop on London's South Bank if you're near enough to go in person.

I have one of these:

I love a Mr Jones watch Blush

I love Tissot and Raymond Weil watches. I think I slightly prefer my Tissot one, wasn’t as expensive but it’s so classic. Will try and find a pic.

This is the newer version of mine

Not Watchfinder - bought a very expensive watch from them and when I took it out of box it was damaged. Yes they refunded but it was a gift and I had to send it back for them to inspect it so it took a while.

I havent used but have spokent to Xupes who seemed very helpful.

If you buy second hand make sure the watch has the papers.

YoooHoo · 21/06/2019 06:24

Omega de ville prestige is beautiful and in your price range. With proper care and maintenance omega last incredibly well.

scarfaceace · 21/06/2019 09:20

If you've been to Cambridge or Oxford, these are beautiful: www.oxbridgewatches.com/university-of-cambridge/ladies-solo-37-rose-gold-2995-m64gs

Swiftier · 21/06/2019 15:43

Thanks @cupofteaandcake hope you got it all sorted with yours!

@YoooHoo I do love the Omega, I already had that on my radar! 😊

@scarfaceace I did go to Oxford but not sure if I need any more reminding of the all nighters in the library 😂 Pretty watch though thank you.
