Sturdy cropped leggings

I need some new cropped leggings to wear under summer dresses on dodgy weather all days.
I only really like my American Apparel ones but they are out of business I believe.
Bonus points for a variety of colours and organic and/or fair trade!

There was a massive MN thread about these recently. I sent for some, but they were too legging-like for my needs at the time, but would be perfect under dresses.

I have tried viscose before and it's been very thin and non-sturdy I'm afraid.
