Where can I go to buy dresses for work?

I’m 5’2” and a size 18-20.

Been in uniform for the last few years so need a new work wardrobe.

Thanks

Boden do some good work dresses, their sale is due to start tomorrow.

Leobynature · 19/06/2019 20:24

I’m 5’2, size 8. I go to next (online sale)

Where do you work? Are you looking for quite formal suit dresses or will more smart/casual jersey dresses be ok? H&M and Sainsbury’s are good for the more casual stuff.

Th1me · 19/06/2019 20:40

It will be smart casual. So dress, cardigan, flat shoes.

I’m not one for jewellery or expensive hair dos, makeup etc so I need to nail it with the dresses!

Go to Evans, you will be a size 16 in there, does wonders for self esteem!

YesQueen · 19/06/2019 20:43

I'm a size 16 and buy from Dorothy Perkins, joe browns, Boden and just bought a kimono dress from lady v London

letstryanewone · 19/06/2019 23:08

I'm a size 20 and get mine from either ASOS or Roman Originals

PatchworkElmer · 19/06/2019 23:19

Different size to you OP, but have tried most places for workwear over the years.

There’s usually something in Next that does the job- though some seasons there’s nothing I like. Worth a look.

M&S: can be surprisingly ok for ‘basics’. I have a nice black dress, patterned shift, and black trousers from there.

ASDA: don’t overlook it- they quite often have nice dresses. I’ve got a lovely navy one, and a decent blouse in there recently.

Miss Selfridge: Great for a decent blazer with a fashionable cut, in my opinion. Only go in there for this reason!

Bravissimo if you're norkish.

clucky3 · 19/06/2019 23:23

Boden and M&S

gelert5619 · 19/06/2019 23:23

I'm your size and have got a few dresses from Tu at Sainsbury. They look smart and wash/hang/no ironing! I've had comment's & people surprised where I got them from!

margotsdevil · 19/06/2019 23:31

@Raera that's weird - I'm always the opposite in Evans!

OP I'd suggest Debenhams. Am similar size and I've just bought several work dresses from their own range and Principles.

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 20/06/2019 08:46

I always buy work dresses from M&S. I know it's not popular on here but I find them reasonably priced and they last.
