All Saints Leather jacket: worth it?

Monipop84 · 19/06/2019 17:05

I have just found the All Saints Papin jacket in John Lewis, discounted from £380 to £260. I feel it's silly money for a leather jacket but all my All Saints items have lasted through the years beautifully and I'd rather spend a bit more and treasure the item rather than buying a mediocre jacket and never wear it. For those of you with All Saints leather jackets: are they worth it? Is £260 a reasonable price?

I can’t remember what I paid for mine, but IMO they get better with age and wear and will last you for a long time providing you don’t change size too much. I bought mine when there was a good reduction in the price and haven’t regretted it.

BusterTheBulldog · 19/06/2019 17:11

Mine is lush! It was a £150 absolute steal though! It’s beautiful, versatile and everyone compliments me on it. I love it!

Monipop84 · 19/06/2019 17:13

@busterthebulldog how did you find it at £150? I was told they rarely have "good" sales on the leather jackets because they are staple items - not seasonal...

Mine was £15 in a charity shop. If I lost it tomorrow I think I’d head straight back to All Saints to replace it. It’s the softest thing ever.

Monipop84 · 19/06/2019 17:20

@evilharpy who gives away an All Saints jacket?! Wow, that was your lucky day!

OP posts:
evilharpy · 19/06/2019 18:31

Monipop I literally grabbed it and ran to the counter cackling Grin

BikeTart · 19/06/2019 19:00

I've got the Papin biker jacket. I love it and I've been wearing it frequently since I bought it last year; it's wearing in very nicely and really soft. everyone comments on it. I'd buy it in the sale, OP. You won't regret it.

Monipop84 · 19/06/2019 19:41

@BikerTart thanks for the advice! Do you find it true to size? I have read one is supposed to size down as the leather stretches?

OP posts:
evilharpy · 19/06/2019 19:48

Size down, they come up big. Mine is a 10, I’m a big 10 and it’s big on me. I tried on a load in store and would have needed an 8 in all of them. They are supposed to stretch quite a bit too.

BikeTart · 19/06/2019 20:06

I bought a size 8 which felt snug when new but now has stretched out. So I'd say size down.
I love All Saints stuff but boy it's pricey!!

DizzySue · 19/06/2019 20:25

Yes, I would never spend +£200 on an item of clothing normally but my all saints leather jacket is an investment. Think 'cost per use' you will have it for years (if not decades).

I disagree with those saying they come up large though. I needed to return mine and order one size up (worth the hassle though I'm in love with it!)

Lenny1980 · 19/06/2019 20:28

I find them narrow on the shoulders but generous in the body.

Blankspace4 · 19/06/2019 20:28

Go for it! They are really nice items. That said, I was desperate for a tan / camel suede jacket a couple of years ago -had seen in All Saints and Reiss for around the £350 mark. Ditherered, and ended up finding a lovely one (still 100% leather suede) in a mango on hol for €120!!!

Investment purchases are worth it and a leather jacket should last you years and years

HertsMum81 · 19/06/2019 20:43

I’ve got the cargo and although it’s nice leather I wouldn’t buy it again - too boxy and not fitted enough (despite sizing down) and it gapes at the back so not flattering at all. I dress quite young and I’m only 30s but it I feel it ages me when I wear it!

BusterTheBulldog · 19/06/2019 22:19

Christmas sale a couple of years ago evilharpy there was a big thread about them on here, best bargain ever! It’s the bales, I’m normally a 10 but got a 12 as I wear mine done up a lot too. Love it!

BusterTheBulldog · 19/06/2019 22:20

Argh, oooos, tagged wrong person! monipop84, sorry evilharpy!

GoGoJo · 19/06/2019 22:55

Mines lovely. Was £155 in Christmas sale though (thanks to posters here who shared the links Grin)

swissmilk · 19/06/2019 23:08

There is always a million all saints leather jackets on eBay, but I guess you need to know which one is going to fit you best before buying one.

evilharpy · 19/06/2019 23:16

When I tried them all on in store, the Cargo is the one I liked and that fitted me best.

Mine is discontinued now - it was called Dare. It’s not the one I would have chosen if I was buying new - it’s cut slightly oversized - but I love it all the same.

All Saints Leather jacket: worth it?
thenightsky · 19/06/2019 23:37

I got the All Saints biker bale two years ago - it was half price at £165. Worth every penny.

Monipop84 · 20/06/2019 07:43

@gogojo @thenightsky so leather jackets do come in the general sale eventually! I ordered the Papin from John Lewis but this is good to know if I don't like how it fits.

OP posts:
Monipop84 · 20/06/2019 07:45

@evilharpy I am very petite (5'1) so looking for slightly cropped styles. Let's hope the one I ordered fits!

OP posts:
Monipop84 · 21/06/2019 18:25

I got the Papin in size 6. Super snug but as everyone has said it will stretch eventually. Oh my god I can't stop smelling it Grin

thenightsky · 21/06/2019 20:01

Oooh… when you get the leather biker of your dreams! Lovely.

hammeringinmyhead · 21/06/2019 23:06

I've got a Bales and a Cargo. The Cargo is from eBay but had never been worn and was £100. I love mine but I've lost weight and the Bales is too big now. I can't bear to get rid though!
