Boden have sent me an 'invite' to a clearance sale at Lincoln showground.

Anyone been to something like this before? Is it worth going or is it tat?

Thanks!

I've been to one before and it was brilliant. So many items and so cheap. Best to get there early although even though I went later it meant that discarded clothes from the early lot in the changing rooms were being put back out in time for me to grab.

whenimdreaming · 19/06/2019 22:34

Sounds like it could be worth it then! Were things heavily discounted?

Very heavily discounted.

BeaLola · 20/06/2019 00:00

I have been twice - to me it was a bit like how I feel about say an Outlet place - you're either in luck & get loads or its not quite your day & nothing is quite right.

Prices 1st time round were really discounted - I hadn't realised just how manic it would be & so second time around I went later in day not long before it closed as on route home & did quit well. My best buy - a pair of velvet Mary Jane shoes - much higher than I usually wear but beautiful quality & a thing I just can look at in my wardrobe and smile at for £15.

If its not too far out your way & you have the time worth checking out

Went to the Guildford one a couple of weeks ago. They do get very busy though.

Kids clothes from £8, Kids coats £15 etc
I didn't pay much attention to the adult clothes but think they were all in the range of around £10-40.

The majority of the stock seems to be end of season but there are some returns which will probably be marked as such so you need to check these carefully for holes and dirt.

Ohyesiam · 20/06/2019 06:29

It’s like a jumble sale but all Boden! The queues will be massive, youlll see stuff from years ago.
It’s really cheap.

whenimdreaming · 20/06/2019 11:55

Going to give it a go!

Is there changing rooms?

OP posts:
SquatBetty · 20/06/2019 15:56

Yes I think there are but I didn't use them though

TantricTwist · 20/06/2019 18:14

Yes there are changing rooms

Fibbke · 20/06/2019 18:25

Grab armfuls of stuff then try it on. People leave stuff in the changing rooms so worth looking there also. The one i went to was an absolute bunfight.

Cambionome · 20/06/2019 20:43

I've been to them in Cheltenham before, quite a while ago though. In my experience the stock was very mixed.

whenimdreaming · 20/06/2019 21:02

@Cambionome mixed as in you didn't find anything? It's about 30 miles away from me, and I'm a bit concerned it's all going to be stuff with 3 arm holes!

I wasn’t very impressed with the adults stuff when I went but did well for the kids.

Pleasance · 20/06/2019 22:16

Sounds interesting, however being Boden, I'd have to try everything on as I find the sizing so inconsistent.

SuckingDieselFella · 21/06/2019 02:01

Went to one but there was nothing for me. Tried on a cardigan and a woman told me to take it off because it was too frumpy! The changing rooms are communal.

LellyMcKelly · 21/06/2019 04:29

Do you need lots of new Boden clothes? And are you prepared to put yourself through a bunfight for the sake of a few bargains? If you have enough clothes then don’t bother, or go to a Boden shop and buy one or two things you really like instead of a whole load of stuff you probably wouldn’t touch unless it was cheap.

whenimdreaming · 21/06/2019 07:35

The few bits I've had from Boden I've really liked the quality. I've just lost 3 stone so could do with a wardrobe update.

Of course the kids permanently need the next size up too!

eBay ALWAYS has loads of low cost Boden, loads of it new. I understand Boden sell off clothing by the kilo, people buy it, split it into individual items and sell on.

I would rather shop at leisure and find what I really want (tho again sizing is an issue I always look for sellers with an option for returns)

whenimdreaming · 26/06/2019 13:19

Thought I'd update, I went this morning.

Arrived about 15 mins after opening. Everything is set out on tables by size and type (tops, dresses, skirts, trousers etc). The 'baby' stuff up to 2 years was pretty much empty. A
Loads of boys t shirts, mostly in there due to the sizes in correct (said things like hem -3cm, chest-1cm). A few boys trousers, but loads of winter coats with no faults. Not a lot of girls stuff. T shirts were £8, trousers £8 and coats £10.

Women's clothes - loads of stuff with a slight mark on, dresses were £15. I got 2 with no faults and 1 with a tiny mark I think will wash out.

Was all quite polite, but the lady on the check out did say it can get quite manic.

All in all please I went and would probably go again!

TantricTwist · 26/06/2019 16:32

I've always found the Boden stuff on Ebay really outdated and therefore quite expensive actually.
