La Roche effaclar 3 step anti blemish system

Hi

I posted on here the other week about my terrible adult chin acne think I suspect is hormonal.. since that post it has got significantly worse and I have stopped using the acnecide and Paula’s choice BHA.

Both sides of my chin are covered in red marks from old spots and a few new ones on each side I am waking up every day with at least two new active spots. I am seriously depressed !

I have heard good things about the la Roche posay anti blemish system the one that contains effaclar duo + and have ordered as it was on offer it should be here around Thursday. The reviews are great but they were for acnecide and Paula’s choice too and it’s done nothing but Make it worse and I gave it a good 6 weeks. I previously got clear using the acne.org regimen but this is doing f all now !

Has anyone had any experience using la Roche ? Particularly people with hormonal acne mainly on the chin ? And I don’t mean just a few spots around the period I mean full blown under the skin painful spots. I’ve heard it gets worse before better which generally is the case with most acne treatments.

Thanks

I didn't find my skin got worse before it got better using Effaclur, it just got better incredibly quickly.

I use the face wash and Duo cream. If I can get the toner, I'll also buy that. It's made huge changes to my skin - not perfect but you would never think of me as someone with acne or 'problem skin' if you met me.

Clinique also do a Pore Refining Solutions clay mask which I think you may find helpful on your chin.

@RacheyCat what was your skin like before ? My chin is so bad atm I have sooo many red marks and two huge spots the under the skin ones.

How long would you say it took to get better? Did you try anything else before the effaclar ?

I’ll look into the mask thanks

I really like effaclar duo because it doesn't dry my skin out. I use it on my chin, and sometimes on my forehead.

Richlyfruited · 18/06/2019 22:38

I'm using it for my huge hormonal spots (chin/cheeks) and DS is trying it for acne but unfortunately the Effaclar is not making much difference to either of us.

I do hear great things about it though so hope it will work for you.

I’ve always had oily skin and get hormonal spots - and spots from incredibly oily skin while pregnant and La Roche Posay works brilliantly for me.

Hi, I'm afraid Effaclear Duo didn't work for me but the Vichy Normaderm range has been amazing (and is in the same price bracket). All of the Vichy products are hugely underrated in my opinion and are often 3 for 2 at Boots. Worth bearing in mind if LRP doesn't bring success. Keep going, I know it's demoralising.

Done nothing for me. Red marks and chin/hormones spots still.

It didn’t work for me but what has worked a treat is diluted apple cider vinegar (with mother in it), turmeric capsules (better with black pepper in it as it works better) turmeric face masks, and milk thistle capsules.

I read that we can treat spots on the outside but we need to help our bodies from the inside too. Turmeric and Milk Thistle both have anti inflammatory properties and milk thistle also fights free radicals that affect our skin.

Didn’t work for me either I’m afraid. Actually gave me more spots. It made the texture of my skin in the bin spotty areas lovely though! Shame there’s clearly something in it that my skin dislikes

It worked for me for spots, but nothing is working for clearing up an acne breakout I have. I'm 37 and I've never had acne before!!
