Foundation for mature (wrinkled!) dry skin

Looking for a good foundation please for quite dry skin? I have Dior and Erborian but one is too thick and the other one too thin. Either the freckles and broken veins show through or else I look like I've been dipped in quick setting cement. :(
Maybe bag on head time?

Maybe bag on head time?
Nooooooooooo never

Is the thinner foundation buildable? I.e have you tried adding another layer until you get the coverage you need?

I'm using the ordinary serum foundation at the moment, it's very thin and you can see my skin but I prefer it because I like a more natural finish.

Have you tried Estée Lauder Double Wear or Lancome teint idole!? Both of these are full coverage but not too heavy, beautiful to apply and give a beautiful finish. And you don't need a lot. You can get samples of these from the makeup counters in Debenhams/ Selfridge's etc. so you can try before you buy.

Had the Doublewear one but found it a wee bit cakey, wee bit too heavy in the dry bits of my face. Will have a look at Lancome one, thanks NB!

There are links to the foundation she's using in the information section under the video.

sherbetstraws · 17/06/2019 20:35

Oh! I had stopped looking at youtube because it always seemed to show 19 yr olds wih perfect skin. TY!

YouTube used to be mainly teenagers and women in their 20's piling on the makeup. I occasionally watch in shock/horror/fascination. They wear sooooooo much make-up.

I'm currently trying to step up my skincare regime so I turned to YouTube for advice. I stumbled across another lady on YouTube who is aged 50+ she does regular reviews on makeup and skincare.

She has a.m.a.z.i.n.g skin.

Her YouTube account is Hotandflashy I'll come back with a link.

NurseButtercup · 19/06/2019 08:20

Oooohhhhh this looks promising she's American but always includes links to where you can buy products in the UK.

I'm going to boots to have a look at the CYO foundation that she mentions in this video.

Kaz2200 · 19/06/2019 14:19

I've recommended this several times, but at the age of 54 I've found my perfect foundation. The ordinary Serum Foundation I apply 1 pump onto a flat foundation brush and buff on to my skin, I find it very thin but highly pigmented, so perfect for not settling into any lines. I finish with a light dusting of Laura geller balance and glow.

mommybunny · 19/06/2019 21:32

I love Hot and Flashy! You would never believe Angie is 56 when you see her all made up but she is very real looking before the slap goes on. I gotta say I don’t think I’m crazy about the clothes videos - for someone as thin and tall and pretty as she is she could go a lot less boring - but on skincare and makeup she’s got the goods. I know one of her favourite foundations is It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC cream, which I use myself (52) and really like.

sherbetstraws · 20/06/2019 16:58

Thanks everybody, off to look at her videos now.
Kaz what is serum foundation? Who makes it?

OP posts:
Kaz2200 · 20/06/2019 20:35

The Ordinary. Really affordable definitely worth a try.

sherbetstraws · 21/06/2019 08:53

Is that the brand name Kaz? Can you get it online?

OP posts:
Kaz2200 · 21/06/2019 09:32

This is there website, but you can get from lots of places online, they do a wide range of skin products, if you search Mumsnet you will see lots of recomendations if you fancy treating yourself.

It Cosmetics CC+ cream - it really does just enhance your own skin and make it look better. It's buildable too - sometimes I just use on areas that need it, a very sheer layer, and then for work I use it for full-on make-up.

YesQueen · 25/06/2019 14:49

@NurseButtercup CYO lifeproof is my holy grail foundation. It's going from boots though so if you like it, stock up I bought ten

annabelle1992 · 25/06/2019 15:20

Double wear light is great
Nars sheer glow
YSL touche eclat foundation

annabelle1992 · 25/06/2019 15:20

Also big advocate of It Cosmetics Cc cream!

sherbetstraws · 28/06/2019 14:55

Kaz - the Ordinary foundation is fabulous. Really good cover and not heavy or oily. I'll buy more of their stuff now. :)

OP posts:
TheDogsMother · 28/06/2019 14:58

I use Clarins Teint Haute Tenue which is long lasting I used to use Double Wear but this is less cakey

Kaz2200 · 28/06/2019 18:34

Glad you like it, can't beat it for the price, and it lasts ages.

poopypants · 28/06/2019 18:51

Hot and flashy is a good blog for older skin. Interestingly her holy grail foundations are the same as mine so we must he in to something! Try Chanel Lumiere Velvet (black bottle), YSL all hours and/or L'Oréal true match.
