Rucksack for handbag hating woman!

I hate hand bags. I mostly prefer to load up my pockets (or more accurately, DH's). I use a Hershel backpack for work, a black one. I love it but it is a bit "commuterish", worked well in London on the tube but looks a tad out of place walking around the city I live in now. And tbh I've had it for years and fancy a change. Can you hit me with your work rucksack recommendations please, from the dainty leather ones through to the practical. Needs to fit an iPad, I tend to carry my laptop separately. Thanks!

Try the knomo beauchamp. Not cheap but bloody brilliant!

Ellapaella · 16/06/2019 18:53

Check out Roka London - they do some really lovely bags https://rokalondon.com

SpangledBoots · 16/06/2019 18:55

Kanken bags come in different sizes and loads of colours. The small one is cute for day to day.

What's your style?

Kittykatmacbill · 16/06/2019 19:28

I love my tote bag no1, such a practical bag.

I've only recently come across pure luxuries They have some lovely ones and seem very good quality for the price

DasMumBoot · 16/06/2019 19:52

I have this Knomo padded one that I’m selling OP. I’ve used it once and it’s a bit too big for everyday out and about as it’s more of a work one I think. It’s 30 cm wide at its widest point and 42 cm long. It’s very comfortable to wear as shoulder straps are also padded. Let me know if you’re interested and I can send more pics. It looks brand new (prob coz it is really) and it’s a shame no one is getting any use out of it. I’ve just checked Knomos website and they don’t seem to have this padded design now. I got it a couple of years ago.

I really like those Roka London bags, but am a bit put off that it's only a mobile number as their contact and there is no visible address on the website..........

Shame as they looked perfect!

shookennotstirred · 16/06/2019 20:04

Saw some gorgeous ones in TKMaxx the other day

eurochick · 16/06/2019 20:14

All saints usually have some lovely slouchy backpacks.

cestlavielife · 16/06/2019 20:15

Mia tui for cheaper and range of colours. always have offers

museumum · 16/06/2019 20:19

I love the rains ones. But I have a Herschal too and can’t imagine feeling it was “too commuter” so I’m probably not the best person to ask.

missmouse101 · 16/06/2019 20:21

Kipling rucksacks are fab. Have a look on Amazon.

Grammarist · 16/06/2019 20:21

Ok - I know you asked for rucksacks and I'd go for a Kanken. But I've recently changed over to Healthy Back Bags and they're amazing!

Ellapaella · 16/06/2019 20:23

@PeoniesarePink they are a legit company. They sell the bags in a boutique local to me

HundredMilesAnHour · 16/06/2019 20:24

Smythson do some lovely leather backpacks. Perfect to fit your ipad in (although a little too small for a laptop). I have 3 of them (different colours/sizes!) as I love them so much.

It's actually sale time at Smythson now. This is like one of mine:

There's also this:

Of the ones I've hit that I love and rate -

Kanken for day to day. I've got the classic and the one that converts from a tote to a rucksack. I love my classic with the padded shoulder straps, so comfy, lightweight and you can fit shitloads in it.

Rains for when it p!sses down and I need to look a bit smarter.

Knomo which was a present and I like but I tend not to use as much as the Kanken

Sandqvist - I don't have one of their rucksacks but do have a crossbody and a bumbag which is beautiful quality - both picked up for half price in the sale several months ago and there's another sale on now www.sandqvist.com/en/shop#categories~sor=shop/sale_ss19

I second Mia Tui, really well made and there’s a good choice of colours, there’s usually special offers too.

babysharkah · 16/06/2019 20:27

I have this. I cannot tell you how much I love it.

Oops should have added, it's from Fossil.

TheFaerieQueene · 16/06/2019 20:29

Longchamp rucksacks are great and come in loads of bright colours. You can wash them in the machine on a gentle wash if they get dirty.

I might have one (many) of them.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 16/06/2019 21:06

I recommend this all the time but the Sophia and Matt backpack is my absolute favourite. I use it for work, days out, overnight stays. It’s amazing!

YouDidntJustSayThat · 16/06/2019 21:09

Clarks have a gorgeous silver antiqued leather one at the moment. It's really lovely.

Betty777 · 16/06/2019 21:54

I have this in pale grey. it's pretty classy and light. Won't fit a laptop but tablet definitely
