Urgent suit help needed!

Please lovely Style and Beauty people - where can I find a suit with straight trousers (not tapered) and a short jacket?

Job interview on Thursday and I’m in dire need. I’m pretty short and all the suits I can seem have massive swampy blazers!

Thanks so much for your help.

What's your budget? I think Reiss could be a good bet.

BloomedAgain · 14/06/2019 21:00

I had a look through reiss and these might work. Available in black or navy.
Scroll through to see the jacket better

And matching trousers

Ah thanks, you’re very kind! It’s such a. Ice suit, but that jacket looks on the long side on the model. (I’m five feet nothing Sad).

How do you feel about Next, OP? Looks like there are a few options there.

Greywind1523 · 14/06/2019 22:50

I got one in Next last year for an interview. The jacket is fairly short and they do straight trousers in different lengths.

Ponks · 14/06/2019 22:50

Hobbs is always a good bet

BloomedAgain · 14/06/2019 23:51

No problem. I've had Reiss stuff shortened (also through the shop). I agree Next could work as they have different leg lengths.

I'll second reiss, and I'm 5' 2".

Verite1 · 15/06/2019 08:11

I tried on a lovely reiss trouser suit with a shortish jacket. Was on the hip but very fitted so didn’t look like blazer.

Verite1 · 15/06/2019 08:14

Sorry - they don’t seem to have it online now. Must have sold out.

Thinkle · 15/06/2019 08:21

Have you thought about buying the trousers you like and a contrasting smart jacket.? I think this can look more out together than a suit sometimes.

Batshittery · 15/06/2019 16:12

I recently bought a navy one from Hobbs. It's lovely

Rainatnight · 20/06/2019 09:22

Hello all, standing here in my new Next suit, which fits (nearly) perfectly. Didn’t expect this to be the solution!

Going to my interview now but will provide update on suit ins and outs later.

Thanks again for all the help.

Hope it all went OK! Which one did you choose?

Rainatnight · 20/06/2019 22:12

This one - the good thing about it was that It had different kinds of trousers to match, so I ordered three kinds and will return the ones that don’t work.

I also ordered one from Hobbs that sadly looks awful on, so it’s going back.

(I only had time to do it online for various reasons).

Looks good. A lot of the suits I find these days are boxy/double breasted.

Rainatnight · 23/06/2019 15:55

It’s so true.

If I had any feedback for Next, it would be that even though it was an nice slim cut and a relief not to have to get the trousers taken up, the jacket was still a bit too long (on me). Shops need to realise that small people are short from shoulder to hip, as well as having short arms and legs!

Find out on Tues if I’m through to the next round 🤞
