I keep getting ads for a clothes shop called Shein - any experiences?

It's clearly quite cheap.

Is it H&M-level cheap (some wearable items in amongst the rubbish)

Or is it all completely useless?

If you ever return anything they’ll never respond to any of your messages or just only half refund it. Truly dreadful.

Pinkywoo · 12/06/2019 21:15

I've not tried their dresses but I love their jumpers, my three favourites are from them.

Sleepyquest · 12/06/2019 21:16

The sizing is a bit off and you basically can't return (you can but not worth it)

DianaT1969 · 12/06/2019 22:25

No no no

Abillity2019 · 12/06/2019 22:28

It’s cheap and cheerful. I’ve had two tops that I wear all the time from them. Wouldn’t bother returning as it’s so cheap in the first place. Order a couple of bits and see what you think.

Whackitupto200 · 12/06/2019 22:29

I’ve got two jumpers from there - one which I especially love and wear lots. The quality is decent but the sizing does come up quite small.

I’ve never tried to return anything but I gather the process is shocking.

LosingLola · 12/06/2019 22:30

Their dresses are weirdly shaped. They have extra fabric in some parts and too little in others. And the material is really thin.

I bought a few items from there but they all had the same issues so I wouldn't buy again.

Waterlemon · 12/06/2019 22:36

My sil orders from there regularly- but she says it’s like an online version of primark just better. So some things are great but some things are not so great and you have to wait a very long time for refunds as you have to return to China.

ronswansonstache · 12/06/2019 22:41

I quite like it. Super cheap and cheerful. I'd advise checking out the review photos under an item you're interested in as that will usually give you a better idea of what the garment looks like. Sizes tend to be very small!

Trills · 13/06/2019 20:36

Thanks, so I'll treat it a bit like getting cheap things from eBay where you take a gamble and accept that the money is gone (and not like H&M where I'll order multiple sizes because they are reliable with their returns).

I recently ordered a few bits. Really cheap quality material. I won't bother again

BurnerPhone · 13/06/2019 20:45

The sizes come up really quite small. A large is basically a size 12.

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/06/2019 20:45

Cheap and cheerful, but a total gamble.
I've had around 80% success with it.

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/06/2019 20:47

Oh yeah, tiny sizing, like any cheap clothing company, it's Asian sizing.
I'm an 8 and order medium.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 13/06/2019 20:50

I'm a size 20 and everything I've ordered has fit (or been a tad too big). Take your measurements and go by the measurements in each individual item.

I've not had anything terrible but a few items were just ok. I have a black backpack I got for 3.50 and it's taken a proper beating and still going strong a year later.

Trills · 15/06/2019 17:50

A large is basically a size 12.

That's true for Zara as well.

According to their own size chart (not comparing to other brands, but comparing to themselves)
L = 29.9 inch waist, which is in the middle of 12 and 14.
12 = 29.1 inch waist
14 = 30.7 inch waist

Check size on everything you order and dont stand near a naked flame wearing the clothes, material awful

WanderingTrolley1 · 16/06/2019 00:37

It’s shit quality.

MeltedEggMum · 16/06/2019 00:43

I bought several cheap and cheerful t-shirts and tops from them recently. They are all polyester, but I like the designs so much that I'm willing to cope. I also bought a pair of jeans that I didn't think will last the year, but for now they are fine. The zipper is especially troublesome and pinches me when I zip it up. Hmm

sergeilavrov · 16/06/2019 00:55

I’ve had some amazing finds on there. I only buy when I go to the reviews and filter for those with photos. That gives me an idea of what it will actually look like. I’m small (US00 when not pregnant) so have found I’m able to buy the XS sizes without problem. Keep an eye on the chest size, I’m a d cup and I took for granted it’d fit and I now have one shirt that will never be worn outside of our room Blush

I’d imagine that for higher sizes it’s a bit rubbish though. I have some beautiful blouses, a jumpsuit that looks very expensive, cosy jumpers and even some lingerie. I wore the jumpsuit to an event with some Louboutins and a Alexander McQueen clutch and got so many compliments... on the jumpsuit. I agree that I wouldn’t bother returning anything, seems too much hassle. Delivery is quick worldwide, and lots of discount codes available.

TheGoddessFrigg · 16/06/2019 09:11

Their shoes are surprisingly lovely, and good quality.
