If you've let yourself go.....

What steps can you take to getting yourself back on track?

Basically in the last six years I've had an abusive relationship, very premature baby (got told repeatedly this and all his health problems were my fault for being fat/lazy/unhealthy etc) and a really precarious and toxic work situation. The result being that I've piled on a massive amount of weight and stopped caring about my appearance at all.
However, things are MUCH better now, I've started slimming world and lost my first stone but does anybody have any easy/inexpensive suggestions about ways to get my physical appearance back on track? I'm clean and usually tidy ish but that's it. Hair's a mess, make up minimal, clothes are leggings and long tops..... you get the idea. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you!

Gallons of water will help everything from weight loss to skin condition, hair, blood, heart everything that’s my first tip.
Secondly nothing wrong with comfy clothes until your happy with your size

I was the same last year, spent a few years working my arse off and putting weight on so stopped wearing makeup and started wearing comfy loose clothes all the time.
I started by what the other poster had said drinking loads of water!.

  1. Hairdressers, go get your hair done nice trim, roots and bouncy blow out.
  2. Treat yourself to some new makeup, blusher, mascara lipstick.
  3. Eyebrows, get them threaded/waxed and tinted.
  4. Moisturise every day! Soap & glory is very moisturising.
  5. Start exercising even if it’s just a few minutes a day at first.
All these steps really helped me fix myself up After just going to the hairdressers I felt good.

All of Rspu3’s suggestions are fantastic, only one I’d add/amend is not just moisturise but start looking after your skin full stop - get into a skincare routine. Every price point has great products to fix just about every skincare concern - dryness, acne, rosacea, wrinkles, age spots, whatever. And SPF every day, not negotiable.

Seeing the new glow in your skin will help seal the changes in your life and

Sorry hit send too quick! 🤬

Anyway, as you lose the weight and get your skin care routine going you will start to see the glow and it will seal the new life you’re creating for yourself. Well done on getting this far and enjoy this new phase of your journey - you’ve earned it! 👍
