Can I wear this to a conference?

I have a two day conference coming up and always struggle with what to wear at these things.

Do you think I could wear a navy dress with leggings (& flat shoes, I can't wear heels) or is that too casual?
Or what about wide leg trousers with a top of some kind (not sure what!)

Please help!

What industry is it for? Leggings would definitely be too casual for finance but might be ok for education. I suggest either tights with the dress or the trousers.

I thought that might be the case - thanks for confirming. Smart is not my natural look!

Any ideas on a top that would go with wide leg navy trousers, that has a bit of stretch around my huge stomach??

beeyourself I would say it depends on the type of conference. The conferences I go to (medical devices/healthcare) are very mixed. Some jeans and some suits. I would say wear what you find comfortable as sitting in lectures all day isn’t great if you’re not comfortable.

Definitely not leggings. They're for the weekend or gym.

With wide legged trousers I would go with a loose blouse, slightly tucked in at front and looser in the back (hope this makes sense Confused)...or cami top with a fitted short jacket over the top so it gives you a nicer shape/covers tum?

Definitely no to the leggings. Can’t you wear tights under the dress instead? A loose but formal top/blouse tucked into the trousers would also look good.

Thanks - I worry about loose tops with wide leg trousers as it might make me look baggy everywhere - IYSWIM?

That's why it needs tucking in at the front....

Leggings and a dress should be fine OP. As long as it's not a very tailored dress.
What sort of conference is it?

anothernewone · 11/06/2019 14:46

Are you a delegate or exhibitor? As a delegate unless there will be people in your sector you need to impress wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
If exhibiting I would go dress and smart flats or trouser suit

Thank you! I'm not an exhibitor but it's potentially a business development opportunity, so I need to be not too casual/scruffy Smile
