I am 34, and have recently lost quite a bit of weight. I've been around a size 20 for the last 15 years, but I'm now a 12/14 - it is wonderful, but I'm completely lost. I don't know how to dress. I've spent my adult life dressing every day with my main focus being trying to look slim, but now I don't need to think that way I have no idea what to wear.
I'm a SAHM and live in a rural setting so I'm completely out of touch with real fashion, but I feel like I'm having a bit of a personality crisis. I've tried a few online shops (asos, boohoo, M&S, shien, hush) but I can't see myself in many of the stuff I've seen.
What the hell do I do? I can't keep wearing clothes that are too big, I look ridiculous!

I can't ask anyone in real life because it just comes across as a massive humble brag, but it's really not, I'm really feeling quite lost!

Sorry, I meant to actually ask if anyone can recommend any clothes shops that they love that I could check out?

Why not go to personal shopper at a large department store like John Lewis? It's free I think and the PS will know what would suit you, and you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to.

And congratulations on the weight loss.

Well done on the weight loss!

What’s your best feature? What’s your body shape?

I like straight or tapered leg jeans that are short enough to show a bit of ankle. Wear with van type canvas shoes or wooden clog type sandals. Or even those palmera sandals. Check-
And other stories, vans, whistles, topshop for denim
This with a soft soft deep v beck t- shirt just tucked in white, lilac or pink.- check gap, French connection or pull and bear for nice t’s
Team with a really soft fluffy cardigan like in a mohair- h and m are good.

That’s like an everyday easy breezy look. Swap the cards for a blazer and wear sandals and you have a going out for lunch look. Swap the t for a smarter gypsy style blouse- Zara have a million for a weekend look
Smack on a classic trench with the sleeve rolled up for a colder day.

Get a good hair cut, your eyebrows threaded and a classic red short manicure.

My goodness @Atalune that is great, thank you! I'm off to Google and shop away now!
@MikeUniformMike - I hadn't thought of that. I'm about 2 hours away from the nearest city, but I've just looked and I can make an appointment. I think that sounds perfect, and actually could feel like a bit of a treat!

I think my best feature is that I have quite good legs, I'm 5"8 so pretty tall, and have an hourglass figure. I really like the idea of being classic, like timeless... But I don't really know what that means!

You’d look really great in little tea dress I think with your good legs and hour glass figure. Asos have a ton as do prettylittlethung.

Dress it down with a slouchy cardigan and bare legs with little suede boots, or a leather jacket.

Or wear with strapped flats and a big hat on a sunny day.

You can literally wear anything with your figure! Go on a spree and buy lots!

Jumpsuits- straight wide leg with heels and a cross over/v or even a plunge neck with a little clutch for an evening.

Atalune · 10/06/2019 21:21

Or like a military style jacket with the dress!

MikeUniformMike · 11/06/2019 08:08

Don't forget to keep us updated. It sounds like you have a perfect figure. Forget what you used to wear and treat the new you to some lovely new clothes.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 11/06/2019 15:15

Thank you both so much, I've been in a whirlwind of online shopping (between actually having to parent my children) and I'm trying to throw all my usual reactions out the window. I've just bought a pair of leather trousers Shock

Wowee! Leather trousers! Nice

MikeUniformMike · 11/06/2019 17:32

Wow. You have the long legs for them.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 12/06/2019 17:47

I'm gutted, the leather trousers fitted, but didn't look right so I'm returning them, but I went nuts today! I've got a lovely jumpsuit as suggested, a denim playsuit, a pair of (size 12 Shock ) jeans, shorts and a few strappy tops, shirts and even one that is slightly cropped and ties at the front. I'm on the look out for a military jacket, perhaps a denim jacket, and will hit the shops properly and find some tea-dresses to try on.

I've also finally made an appointment to try on some wedding dresses since I'm getting married next year Grin

Thank you very much for the help, and actually, for not replying to tell me I'm mad!

-amazing! That all sounds great.

You could go for a dark grey/washed black denim jacket. That would be lovely.

Wedding dress shopping is a lot of fun Grin
