What to wear on a long haul flight?

Any recommendations for what to wear to look stylish, keep comfy, something that will keep me warm on the plane, not look all crushed when I arrive & finally something that will keep me cool when I land in a very very warm country?
Am I asking too much? What do you all wear?

Floofy palazzo pants, vest top, light shirt, skechers. I keep my flip flops in the front of my case and change in the airport 😊 also bring a scarf as I find planes cold. I shivered the whole way to Sydney

Cotton jersey trousers with an elastic waist band. I like ones with pockets so I can stash tissues in them because flying makes my nose run, a T-shirt that you can strip down to if it’s hot at your destination, a slouchy jumper or sweat shirt over the top to keep warm, and a large scarf that can double as a blanket or a pillow. Plus shoes which are easy to get on and off for security and your most comfortable bra (long haul with underwire digging in is not fun).

Agree with above. I have cotton jersey trousers from Hush that I wear with layers of T-shirt, jumper and always a scarf. I hate having a cold neck. Forgot a scarf on last holiday so picked one up at accessorize in the airport.

Flight socks!

FortyFacedFuckers · 09/06/2019 14:01

Thank you all, any ideas for a jumper that is easy to pull on & off, that won’t get totally crushed & that doesn’t look like I am on my way to the gym?

I'd advise against flip flops - getting your feet out is unpleasant for other passengers. I fly long haul a few times a month, between the Middle East and US, and I go for a long cashmere cardigan for the flight, a loose silk blouse, ballet flats and comfortable jeans. I wear flight socks, to keep circulation going. I take all of my makeup on the plane, and apply a sheet mask to keep me moisturised.

Before landing, I change my shirt into a fresh one, change into foot tights, deodorise, brush teeth, mouthwash and apply make up, often stick on some heels too depending on where I'm arriving to. I like to feel fresh and it helps me deal with the time difference changes!

I bought the e-bay harems for a recent flight to Thailand. Had a pair for going and a pair for returning. Wore a Uniqlo t-shirt, denim jacket and Havianas. Took Mint Velvet scarf to keep warm in the cold bits and a cashmere cardi.

Thank you

A flight attendant friend always advises taking a swimsuit/bikini, sarong/kaftan and spare underwear in hand luggage too - that way, if (unlikely) your luggage goes missing or arrives late, you can go to the beach/pool.

Million there are 3 in the TSS family. I split all our clothes between 3 cases. We can easily go 5 days if any one case is lost.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 09/06/2019 19:02

TSS, could you link to the harems? So many on search results!

millythepink · 09/06/2019 19:11

I wear the Hush harem trousers in black, with a long sleeved white t-shirt and a fine knit poncho from Mint Velvet in grey. Shoes are very soft leather ballet flats in silver.

TSSDNCOP · 09/06/2019 19:25

Here you go

I'm 5'9 and they're on my ankle. They wash very well, but I'll just get more and use them as dusters if they bobble.

I've had the Hush ones. Nice, not as good as White Company. I bet you'd struggle to differentiate from the e-bats. I couldn't.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 09/06/2019 19:30

Thanks TSS.

Loose, cotton blend fabrics that won't melt in a fire like synthetic fabrics. Especially hose, Oprah said pantyhose melt onto your skin. Comfy bra. Don't use any fragrances or scented products. Scents can cause fellow passengers potentially serious health issues. Bring a cool dress/outfit to change into before arrival. Sleep mask.

TSS thanks for linking to those harems! What is the sizing like? I’m very tempted to get some!

BlingLoving · 10/06/2019 20:33

The harem trousers are a good call. I always wear black trousers with elasticised waist - my current ones are a polyester blend so they don't crease etc. Jeans are always a mistake as trying to sit for hours is uncomfortable, especially with a bit of flying bloat. T-shirt/short sleeved shirt, cardigan and light jacket. Converse or similar on feet for easy on and off while still wearing socks. A pashmina or large scarf is very helpful as an extra blanket/ pillow. YY to the most comfortable bra you own. I sometimes wear a very tight vest, remove my bra then put on again when getting off flight.

I’m a 14 and have the L. Perfect fit, length on ankle I’m 5’9”.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 10/06/2019 20:57

Incan only see L/XL - I’m 14 too but wondering whether to go with 12/14 or 16/18?
