Hair help please

I am really not liking my hair at the moment. I've been trying various different approaches but nothing is really working.

It's dark brown, long and has a natural wave in it. Tends to go a bit frizzy and looks a bit messy if not straightened or blow dried. I am rubbish at blowdrying my hair so don't even own a hairdryer. Up to recently I've been straightening it when it's dry. I sort of like it but dead straight hair does look a bit boring.

Then a few months ago, I followed dd's lead and started doing the Curly Girl method. If nothing else, the straightening was not good for the condition and thought the CG might improve it. So I've been scrunching it with a CG friendly product and leaving it to dry. Very mixed results! Sometimes it looks nice - ie with a nice wave, and other times it looks rubbish.

I just want nice swishy shiny hair that looks 'done'. I've now been thinking about ditching CG and getting a babyliss big hair.

Does anyone have any advice please?
