Help! Dress code for event tomorrow. I know that the men will wear chinos, shirt, jacket or equivalent. What do women wear? Am hopeless - lacking in confidence with clothes - usually full on work or jeans and t shirt. What would be an in between look. Am 47. Size 8/10 and 5'3. Thanks

Jeans, nice blouse style shirt, blazer, heels? Smart casual I always take to be something I’d wear in the daytime dressed up a little with heals and a nice jacket.

Depends on the event. e.g. Jeans as the casual but with a smarter blouse and shoes would be fine for a daytime drinks gathering, but if it was for an evening wedding reception I wouldn't wear jeans because the all day guests will be smarter, but I'd wear trousers instead of a dress and the whole wedding getup.
