How can I make this dress look more dressy? Heels? Suggestions would be very welcome!

Personally it's not my taste at all, and I'd struggle to make it an evening look.. the colours/pattern are very casual feeling to me, and it's got so much coverage to it that it's hard to change the "look" IYSWIM. You could try putting a belt and heels with it I suppose, go for metallic for both maybe. Very difficult one.

MarinaMarinara · 08/06/2019 07:38

Gosh. That is a lot of fabric. Not to my taste either but I guess if you are very slim maybe it would work (I would look like I was upholstered in that).

Still, getting back to your question, very structured accessories would be my call on that. Maybe a belt, definitely simple shiny heels (probably patent leather pointed toe stilettos), structured handbag.

I love it - I would go with gold strappy sandals, and layered gold necklaces. Maybe a thin gold (metal not plastic/leather) belt if you can find one (Karen millen have a nice one, but depends on budget). Manicure, good hair, it will be lovely. What’s the occasion?

FauxFox · 08/06/2019 07:55

I think maybe a leather waist belt something like this one
Stiletto sandals and a very sleek hairstyle like in the photo might work well.

Ooih i love that and wish i was taller and thinner to buy it.
I agree with Thedot90 - layered gold necklaces, delicate nothing too chunky and gold strappy heels.

It's to wear to a family wedding. Love the idea of gold heels. Will start looking for some!

Beautiful! Gold would look great!

Ellapaella · 08/06/2019 20:45

Lovely dress @SomebodyWillGetHurt and I agree some straps gold or silver heeled sandals will work a treat with some plain silver or gold earrings (hoops or not too fancy dangly's)

DianaT1969 · 08/06/2019 20:56

I'm older than you and with questionable taste 😀 but I think the shape of the skirt is hard to dress up - too demure and 80s. If you aren't 100% sure OP, can you send it back and keep looking? Nearly £100 for a 100% polyester dress. Yikes.
It's also memorable. How many wears do you think you'll get out of it before you friends would think 'oh, she's wearing that again..' Whereas some block colour structured Reiss dresses you can imagine wearing for years and lots of different occasions.

Thanks for the link! Those particular ones would see me spending the clutching my oh to keep me up right. But Dune have great choices!
