Cross body bags - which one (or neither or another one...)

I have been looking for a cross body bag for ages, (yes I know this is my 2nd thread asking for cross body bag opinions) but nothing is quite right except the Loewe puzzle but that's got one too many 0 on the end for my budget do we like either of these:

Radley

or Michael Kors

(My requirements, must fit Kindle, purse, phone, and keys - have measured the Kindle and the Radley would fit it)

I think we might have quite different taste but, for me, the Radley one reminds me too much of these from the 80s, and the MK one has a bit too much metal Sad

SwingoutSisterSledge · 07/06/2019 18:24

I love the grey Michael Kors bag

CowCat · 07/06/2019 18:25

I prefer the MK one.

Soola · 07/06/2019 18:32

They both look like nan bags to me and I’m old!

Thinkle · 07/06/2019 18:32

Agree!

Thinkle · 07/06/2019 18:33

Agree re the green drawstring

pictish · 07/06/2019 18:34

Yep nan bags. Bags for the bingo. Sorry x

Honeybee85 · 07/06/2019 18:38

The MK one. More neutral style so easier to combine with different outfits.

Btw APC has great cross body bags too

Soola · 07/06/2019 18:39

I like the Ralph Lauren one that @RiddleyW has posted.

Ninkaninus · 07/06/2019 18:39

I’m really not keen on either but bags are very subjective and it just depends on what you like. I prefer more boxy bags, they look a bit more current, I think. Also depends on what you need to carry on a daily basis. I like mine on the small side.

What’s your budget? I’ve heard good things about Aurora London, a couple of personal endorsements on quality and workmanship.

The Gigi would be my choice. It’s a great size and I love it in the red. Quite reminiscent of the soho disco.

The Michael. Kors one is nicer but so cavernous that you'd never find your keys under everything else.

RiddleyW · 07/06/2019 18:44

Should say the Ralph Lauren one comes in lots of colours - green is just my fave.

Ninkaninus · 07/06/2019 18:45

Oh duh skimmed OP and your size requirements aren’t too onerous. For that reason I would steer clear of cavernous bags. I don’t actually remember what the Radley bag looked like, sorry, am in the middle of cooking, but the MK one looks like a stereotypical very old lady’s bag to me (no ageism intended - many old women are very stylish and trendy and dress well).

Ninkaninus · 07/06/2019 18:47

Checked the radley. It’s a firm no from me. My grandmother would have maybe chosen to carry that by the time she was in her eighties. But probably not.

LateMumma · 07/06/2019 18:48

I'm with @RiddleyW on this one, sorry.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 18:49

The Michael kors one is lovely. A no for the other.

taybert · 07/06/2019 18:49

Have you looked at coach? They have a summer sale on, the discounts are usually good and they’re really nice bags.

NoBaggyPants · 07/06/2019 18:49

The Aurora one is lovely, and the green one too.

Anything with Michael Kors on screams fake to me. Can't make my mind up on the Radley one.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 18:50

Nan bag? Is this a thing now Hmm

Sexnotgender · 07/06/2019 18:51

That Radley one is revolting, sorry!

The MK one is quite nice.

magneticmumbles · 07/06/2019 18:54

Apparently cross body bags are going out of fashion. It's the early 00s tiny shoulder bag that's going to be all the rage.

OrdinarySnowflake · 07/06/2019 18:56

Thanks! The Ralph Lauren one doesn't seem quite right either, I don't like the way it sits on the model. The Gigi one is nice, but a bit too small. It's the Kindle requirement, lots of cross body bags are either normal big handbags with a strap added, or so small I can't get a kindle in it, and I've got a couple already I can't get enough in so I don't use, beyond nights out.

I’m faithful to crossbody through fashionable and not fashionable. They’re too handy for the train to give up.
