What to wear with navy blazer

I work in the city in London, and the dress code is smart. I tend to wear a black jacket with a dress, pencil skirt, slim trousers, that sort of thing. I liked clothes from Maje and Sandro in my flashier days, but now it's more Cos and Reiss, and I sometimes look in Jaeger, Hobbs, LK Bennett too (for workwear only).

I bought a dark navy blazer from Reiss a while ago, but am struggling to find something to wear with it. They didn't come with matching bottoms unfortunately, and I can't find a good pair of navy trous or skirt anywhere.

I'm wondering if these very dark forest green trousers from Cos would work? I have them in black so know they fit well. Would they work? Any other suggestions??

Anything but navy! You really don’t want to wear matching suits nowadays anyway, unless they’re very fashion forward, and also they must match exactly.

You can wear navy with lots of different colours - mustard, forest green, olive, berry, burgundy, camel, dusky pink, light colours such as blue, pink, grey. Also check or patterned trousers with navy in them.

I think it could be okay with those trousers although it’s hard to say for sure without seeing it in person. I’d go ahead and order and see how it goes, especially as you know they fit well.

Mushroom and other beige/taupe colours also goes really nicely with navy. Cream blouses.

No worries! All navy can look good but then the jacket and trousers/skirt really do need to match exactly. So given that you haven’t got that, mixing it up is better and also easier and allows for more variety and interest. I find googling ‘navy blazer work outfit’ or similar and looking at the images that come up is quite good for getting inspiration for new outfits.

Yes I've been doing that! I find myself going down an Alexa Chung rabbit hole...

I sometimes also google specific colours together, so ‘khaki and dusky pink summer outfit’ or ‘navy and mushroom work outfit’ or whatever.
