Choosing a new perfume

How do I start?

I want a new perfume but utterly overwhelmed by choice! Is there a handy spreadsheet that tells me if I like X I should try Y.

I try to have a sniff around (usually in duty free) but my nose gives up after about a minute.

Yes, go on Fragantica and type in the perfumes you like. A sidebar will come up of other similar ones you can try. Or type in the 'notes' you enjoy and loads of different options will arise.

I love fragrantica!

Why not decide not to commit to one full size bottle?

You could join a sample subscription scheme such as this. (I have no connection to them!)

I do sometimes find using just one perfume somewhat stultifying. Variety is good.

Thanks for fragrantia tip had a look round - but soooo much information.

I seem to be weirdly fond of fragrances that I love and hate in equally measures. Tom Ford black orchid is a good example. I find it overwhelming but keep going back for more!
