Anyone good on colour seasons?

I can't work out which I am!
I am definitely cool toned - yellow based foundations make me look jaundiced
I freckle and get red cheeks in winter, and always burn, never tan
Redhead, and green eyes

Someone told me today that I really suit navy but apart from that I haven't got a clue. Green tends to look nice and I avoid pastels/yellow/orange totally

If you're cool and you avoid pastels that would suggest Winter.

Chewbecca · 06/06/2019 18:35

Or Summer

benevolentassassin · 06/06/2019 19:02

I wouldn’t have thought you were cool toned if you’ve got red hair and freckles.

endofthelinefinally · 06/06/2019 19:09

Red hair, freckles and burn easily is a typical spring.
Peach, coral, ivory, turquoise, clear, bright, warm colours. Gold jewellery. There are some blues that go well, but not navy or royal. I can't remember the name of the correct shade but it might come to me.
The best book I ever had on this topic was Colour me Beautiful. I wish I had kept it.

endofthelinefinally · 06/06/2019 19:11

Cobalt blue.

YesQueen · 06/06/2019 19:40

@benevolentassassin I didn't but I'm am consistently cool toned in foundation, lipsticks etc etc. Can't wear peachy blush, I always go for cool pink
Anything with a warm undertone looks shocking. I asked a makeup artist and she said I have blue undertones Grin which apparently is a thing or I'm just pale blue

best daylight pic I can find

I also never pick gold or rose gold for jewellery, always silver Confused

Can I make a suggestion? I follow you on IG, and most of your make up shots have you wearing black liner and mascara. Theory suggests only winters would get away with this, so could you try swapping out the black to see what difference it makes? Try browns or greys, maybe navy mascara or plum. You could well be a summer, the brown summers are similar in some respects to autumns which can make them hard to place. I'm not quite a brown summer but I also have green eyes, freckles and can wear silver, rose and yellow gold jewellery. That said, the only way to be certain is to go and be 'done', House of Colour are best I'd say. I went years ago thinking I'd be an autumn and was rather shocked to be told I'm a summer.

We were told that often we are instinctively drawn to our colours, for summers that's blues, pinks, aquas etc. Monet would represent summers. Winters would be Picasso, autumns Constable but I can't remember spring.

I knew a woman that had her colours done and she always looked dreadful IMO.

YesQueen · 06/06/2019 20:09

@frugalkitty I did used to wear plum a lot and I find bronze liner really nice. Might have to look for a new plum one
I think it's because o wear glasses that make my eyes really small so I wear a lot to emphasise?
Navy looked odd (I'm sure benefit used to do one I tried!) and grey doesn't quite work

Your hair doesn't look red in that photo. It looks more cool toned.

endofthelinefinally · 06/06/2019 20:21

The book I mentioned, by Carole Jackson is £3.99 on Amazon.

YesQueen · 06/06/2019 20:22

@endofthelinefinally I am very definitely a natural ginger Grin
It was orange Blush when I was younger but seems to be fading down with age weirdly

OP posts:
benevolentassassin · 06/06/2019 20:24

I think warm toned from that pic - your hair has a lot of deep gold tones in it, your eyes are a warm green and I think the shade of lipstick you are wearing looks wrong on you.

Also, you are beautiful - really classically beautiful.

LoafofSellotape · 06/06/2019 20:25

OP can you tell me what lippie your wearing in that photo,it's just what I'm after!

YesQueen · 06/06/2019 20:29

@LoafofSellotape it's stila liquid lipstick in Baci

@benevolentassassin I would totally agree if it wasn't for the cool toned foundation thing. I find makeup artists approach me and start putting warm toned foundation on and then recoil in horror Grin
I wear porcelain in most stuff, shell in double wear and NW in Mac Confused maybe I'm neutral?!

OP posts:
woodhill · 06/06/2019 20:31

Could you be an Autumn?

Your eyes look blue in pic?

LoafofSellotape · 06/06/2019 20:34

Thank youSmile

Your eyes look blue in pic?

You might want to get your own tested Wink

BadHairDyeDay · 06/06/2019 20:35

Dont assume that all redheads are warm toned. I have ginger hair, blue eyes and freckles and I am definitely NOT warm toned! The two do not go hand in hand. I went to colour me beautiful years ago and they made an instant assumption that I was Autumn which I went with for years and looked ghastly. I suit navy/white/clear pinks & greens etc. Definitely no creams/peaches/yellows/lime or I look like death!

woodhill · 06/06/2019 20:37

Thanks for that loafoConfused

YesQueen · 06/06/2019 20:37

@BadHairDyeDay it's so weird - if I take a photo I can look incredibly warm toned and then another day look distinctly cool toned
My eyes change with the light and I swear my hair is a different colour in every photo of me every taken Smile

LoafofSellotape · 06/06/2019 20:39

For lipsticks I was taughy to put a tester swatch on your finger pad and if it looks 'right' it will be the right colour on your lips. I've not made a mistake since doing that, makes it so easy.

YesQueen · 06/06/2019 20:40

@LoafofSellotape I LOVE lipsticks. Current fave is Nars orgasm lip balm, it's gorgeous

OP posts:
LoafofSellotape · 06/06/2019 20:45

A quick Google suggests Soft Autumn

LoafofSellotape · 06/06/2019 20:45

Will look that up ASAP 😊
