Double Cleansing

Hi,

Can someone guide me please. I have combination skin, prone to acne on my chin and jaw line lovely.

From what I have read and understood, I need:
1st cleanse : oil based (superdrug hot cloth cleanser)
2nd cleanse : water/milk/gel based (not sure what to use... Olay milk cleanser, or cetaphil?)
Exfoliate: Pixi Glow tonic (Glycolic acid)
or Clearasil Pads (Salicylic acid)
Serum: Superdrug Vit C Booster
Night cream : Any? Just before bed or straight after all this?

Sorry if this sounds dumb but my skin is so dull and I've been using plain water for years now... don't know where to start!

So do I need to use all this morning and evening? Or just certain items. And what about the toners, at least two different toners, morning and evening?

Thank you for reading!

You want this sort of thing for cleanse 1 and Hot Cloth Cleanser as cleanse 2.

2 lovely cheap and brilliant items.
-Simple cleansing oil.

  • Simply pure cleansing lotion ( from Superdrug) after!
Brilliant combination.Smile

The oil isn’t oily.
It emulsifies white and washes away!

soapona · 06/06/2019 19:51

Simple is dreadful as it just full of mineral oil. Any other oil will do. Pre cleanse oil works on the oil attracts oil theory so good for oily skin and heavy make up not essential for no make up cleansing.

No the one l use doesn’t have any mineral oil? Hmm
It’s maybe a different one you’re thinking of?

Most people should be using an SPF and the oil is needed to break down waterproof formulas.
Jojoba is another excellent oil, but can be a bit pricey.

@Willowtreecottage

These are the ingredients

Ingredients. Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil, Isopropyl Palmitate, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Phenoxyethanol, BHT, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate.

Ok Not mineral oil (unlike most simple products) but not a good list. It's got alcohol in it. Neat Jojoba oil is 100% times better.

I just bought the pixi double cleanser - the first stage is an oil based one (a bit like the eve lom / Emma hardie ones) and the second stage is similar to the Hot polish cloth cleanser. It seems pretty good so far.

dudsville · 08/06/2019 07:31

Can the 2nd cleans be oil again (eve lom / Emma hardie?). Cleansing lotions are too drying for my skin.

Definitely use a night cream! I recommend Aldi night cream, mixed with a few drops of your favourite oil (The Ordinary have many: B oil, Rosehip and Borage Seed Oil are all good for night time, Squalane and Chia Seed oil are better for daytime)

Re: the acne, I had spots on my chin constantly for 15 years (!!!) And completely cured it by quitting dairy, soya and wheat. You can try to reintroduce after a few weeks and see what triggers you and in what quantities. I've discovered I can have cheese once a week, and bread no more than twice before I get a spot, but it's worth it to have clear skin after all this time.
