Is there a foundation that can cover melasma?

I have a broad patch of brown spots on each cheek since pregnancy, and I've never found anything that can either lighten them or cover them. I use sun cream constantly and wear hats, but it still always worsens in the summer.

Any ideas for a face that doesn't look piebald?

Have you tried Estee Lauder Double Wear? It has excellent coverage and you can ask for free testers at EL counters to give it a try.

Have you tried using hydroquinone or corticosteroid cream to lighten the patches?

Huda beauty foundation very pigmented. covers my dark acne spots without layering. best I've found

Hi OP, I also suffer with this. I use Estee Lauder doublewear camouflage make up (the blue bottle) it works quite well, the best I've tried yet anyway.

I once tried the Obagi Nu-derm regime which really worked and got rid of my patches, however they have come back, albeit in different areas and after about 5 years. It is worth doing if you can afford to and bear the peeling stage (although not that bad in my case). The key 2 things are hydroquinone and retin-a 0.1% to lighten the patches.

I have also recently read about tranexamic acid and vitamin C taken together can help. I am a week in so will report back if I notice a difference further on down the line!

Dermablend is a concealer for people with scars etc and it might work under make up, or a reasonably heavy duty concealer.

Try a corrector before foundation, can’t remember from memory what colour corrects brown but google should help, then Lauder maximum coverage will definitely cover it. It’s waterprroof and super full coverage.
