Has Theresa May killed the gilet?

I used to like gilets, but now that she has so often been photographed wearing a navy gilet, I wonder whether the look has become associated with her. Would you still wear one?

Mary Berry wears a gilet too as do all the women in the royal family and every rich British person ever. If you wear it properly (ie as part of outerwear) then it’s a look that will never go out of style.

If it/you can handle all the other associations I dont see why Theresa May would finally kill it

My 15 year old very on trend son wears one. He’s probably never seen the PM in one and couldn’t care less. Of course he doesn’t recognise anyone over 30 as worth looking at anyway.

I don’t think it is associated with her. I think of kitten heels, tartan suits and the 2 coats thing when I think of Theresa May.

I think she's the perfect person to wear gilets ie rich, upper class

I didn’t stop using a handbag because Thatcher was known for hers.

I wear one, the navy variety and even a pink joules one 😁

Still, I did stall prior to buying my beloved liberty print Barbour a few yrs ago cos I found many toe-curling pics of TM sporting an identical one during a google image search.

I just gotta tell myself I wore it better 😎
