Numbing gel to use with Lumea?

I bought a Lumea Prestige over the weekend and used it on my legs. It wasn't unbearable but it was definitely a bit sore so I'm working up the courage to do armpits and face!

Has anyone tried using a numbing gel or anaesthetic cream with it? It used it on 3 for my legs but think with my skin tone and hair I probably need to go up to 4 or 5 for it to really work. The skin sensor tells me 5 for my face!

That’s weird, my lumea isn’t uncomfortable at all anywhere on my body including face. I suppose we’ve all got different skin though.
Sorry that wasn’t very helpful was it Smile

You don’t need numbing gel. It just smacks like an elastic band. It’s 0.5secs of pain for months of hair free skin. Just push through it. No pain, no gain.

What setting did you have it on? Maybe you should go down a notch until you get used to it???

(Are you really very sensitive usually?)

Emela cream

Ice pack in a tea towel before & after, more particularly after, helps.

I'd be wary of creams or gels as they might stop it working. I used to wash my legs before using mine I think.

I am @holdupwaitamin, my skin always goes very red after waxing or threading and I've even had bruising before, though that might've been more down to the beautician's technique.

I know you're not supposed to use creams with it but I'm wondering if I could put Emela on, wait til it's absorbed and numbs the skin and then wash it off. Or does it stop working as soon as it's washed off?

May grit my teeth and try armpits this afternoon!

Update: I did armpits and bikini or 4 today (didn't have the courage to try 5 for my first treatment!) and it was fine. I actually found both less painful than legs - go figure!
