What's a bralet & am I too old for one?

I was looking for a nice, non-wired, white cotton bra on the M&S website & kept seeing these.

What are they? Is it just another way of selling bras?

I am 55 and a 36A - can I wear one? As a bra, obviously, not as an item of clothing on its own.

I think it is another way of selling bras. And another infantilised little name for women's clothing too.

Don't see why not - I wear things that are sold as bralettes ( this kind of thing ) & am 49. Having said that I'm an AA (really an AA, even with MN bra intervention measuring) so not a lot to hold up.

I definitely get what I want when I search for bralette as opposed to bra - more a crop-top type effect. They're sometimes sold as sports tops - Sloggi for example

I live in these now. Have them in a multitude of colours and they are so comfy will not be going back to underwired torture

I'm 36 B.

I thought they were more bras that you were as tops like this bornabadseed.com/collections/tees/products/contrast-bralette

I love them. Im a 38DD. I have loads of scaring under my breasts and down my back so no clasp rubbing to annoy them.

teta · 03/06/2019 19:56

I wear Sloggi Zero Feel Bralettes as the padding offers some support and it's still soft and flexible.I hate the modern rigid engineering contraptions that the like of M&S sell. I'm a 34 D or DD.

cheeserolls · 03/06/2019 20:11

@teta
How do they last? I had something similar from Uniqlo and it's lost it's tightness (not too tight but became too loose) pretty fast.

They look v comfortable 😊

sherbetstraws · 03/06/2019 20:15

Following this. I'm a 34FF and cannot get a bra that is comfy to wear.

thenightsky · 03/06/2019 20:18

I've tried loads of 'bralettes' and every one has done nothing for me, expect let my boobs join one another in the middle in a hot sticky sweaty mess. Vile. I'm 34E. I suspect they are okay for A cups.

teta · 04/06/2019 11:31

@cheeserolls my Sloggi's haven't gone baggy but they do need to be washed on a delicate wash as the material ' catches' a bit on rough clothing.
They are supremely comfy .

Thank you @teta Smile
