I need work shoes size 7, fully black flat and stylish, maybe with a comfort sole. These are for work to go with black trousers, everyone at my place of work wears black trainers but it’s just not me doesn't look smart to me.

I’m 43 and like to think l follow fashion but in my own way. So as much as l need shoes Clarke’s are not for me.

I am at work now and feel exhausted from looking all weekend, so l decided to reach out and ask for help. Budget is £50 but at a push will go to £65. I need them to last maybe 6 months.

I look forward ti seeing what you come back with.

Thanks in advance.

Give us a vague idea of the kind of thing you're looking for. Clarks do lots of lovely flat black shoes, so it's difficult to know what you class as fashionable.

Is it an office? Are you on your feet all day?

Solongtoshort · 03/06/2019 20:22

It’s a mixture of shop floor and office. Clarke’s really aren’t for me. I keep looking to see if there’s something different on there but there just isn’t.

I like loafers, not ballet type shoes. Nothing with Velcro fastening.

& Other Stories do some loafers - maybe just a little outside your price-range.

I realise you may be on a tight budget but can’t help feeling a little distressed at your planned obsolescence regarding shoes. Is there any way you could look for some that last a little longer? It’s true ‘good’ shoes do generally cost more than you want to spend but I have a pair of plain black sandals from Stories that I’ve been wearing for about four years. Think they cost about £55.

G H Bass make the best penny loafers.

Have to say I can’t see G H Bass appealing to anyone who doesn’t like Clark’s shoes! (Only the Sales items are within the OP’s budget, and they’re in very limited sizes.)
