The evil that is a strapless bra.

I haven't worn a strapless bra since my wedding 12 years ago. Mainly because I'm a 32g (per MN intervention Wink) with a wide gap between my boobs, and gravity has not been kind. I also have back fat so getting the band tight enough to feel secure leaves me with horrible lines. And I guess I'll need moulded cups to keep a shape but only ever seem to add to the prow of a ship look.

I've found a gorgeous dress I'd like to wear for my birthday and it won't take my usual full cup, supportive, comfortable bras. I'm not in the UK and a fitting with eg Bravissimo isn't possible. I'll need to order online and send back what doesn't work, so any recommendations for where to start? My current favourite bra is from Debenhams, gorgeous dd+ full cup, non padded. Thanks bra gurus!

Curvy Kate luxe! Or the wonderbra wth the hands thing inside

Crustaceans · 03/06/2019 10:39

You could try some (serious) boob tape instead. For example: perkypear.com/

You need the Wonder bra one. It's the only one that stays up as it's kinda corset like construction. It definitely gives some juicy cleavage but you can't deny it's impressively sturdy. Order a couple of sizes though and send the wrong one back as in my experience strapless bras don't always follow your normal size. I'm a 36DD norlammy but a 38D in that.

My latest one is from debenhams. Its 34f and was in the bridal bit so not sure if its part of the gorgeous range or not. I wore it all day on Saturday and it was secure and comfortable.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 03/06/2019 10:54

That tit tape looks terrifying Shock I'll investigate though. I'll look at wonderbra too. I didn't realise they cater for the more amply equipped

I buy mine from Victoria’s Secret, which I really recommend - I have a smaller chest than you though. They have different styles so hopefully you might find something! Their strapless bras are decent quality and they have a silicone grip around the band to keep it securely in place.

Whilst they ship from America, my orders arrive within 2-3 days and they have free returns so it’s essentially like ordering from a UK website

I vary between a 32F and a 32FF, but wear the 32F wonderbra strapless with the weird plastic hands technology. It quickly became my favourite bra and now I wear it all of the time whether I need strapless or not!

It feels bizarre to begin with. It sits lower than you'd expect and is pretty tight, but gives great lift and shape (although then means my boobs don't always fit into my tops anymore Blush). It's the only strapless I can get on with.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 03/06/2019 11:24

Actually it's the sitting lower thing that I really dislike about strapless bras, they feel like they are going to fall off at any moment.

So, is this the wonderbra ultimate the one with the creepy hands thing?

yes that's the one. It's very tight, you might need to go up a back size.

10littlepirates · 03/06/2019 13:17

I don't usually wear strapless and recently bought a Marks and Spencer non padded strapless bra to wear with a new dress. It was great - stayed put all evening. I'm a 34 F.

ElspethFlashman · 03/06/2019 13:26

Yeah mine is that one too with the 👐

MindyStClaire · 03/06/2019 13:45

Yeah I was going to recommend that wonderbra one. Bravissimo fitted it for me when I was EBFing a 12 week old and was a 32F or something. It was actually comfortable, I didn't know it was possible. Order it in a load of sizes, and look at pics online to check you have it right - it does sit very low (but it is comfy, I swear).

BuntyCollocks · 03/06/2019 14:55

I like the Elomi one, but for under casual dresses and in high summer, I have a Lycra bandeau in xl from Nubian skin (got it from ASOS) - I’m a 36hh/34j and it gives me a good amount of support.

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/06/2019 14:57

I use the wonderbra one too.
It’s never going to be as comfy as my normal bras, but I do feel safer in it then I gave in any other strapless bra.

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/06/2019 14:57

I always feel as if it’s sitting too low, but I know it’s designed like that.

Thisismynewname123 · 03/06/2019 15:00

I like the Fantasie padded one. I couldn't get on the with Wonderbra one that everyone raves about. I'm a 32FF. I also have a padded prima donna one which is really comfortable, but it's a bit more expensive.

pinkcardi · 03/06/2019 15:08

Wonderbra one for me too.

Actually comfortable and gives lovely shape. It's the only one I would ever wear, usually hate the things

millythepink · 03/06/2019 15:30

I have the Wonderbra one with the hands but haven't worn it out because it makes me look like the prow of a ship. But have I been wearing it too high up? How low should it be?
