Help me find some non-work trousers for summer

The only trousers I wear are jeans and smart trousers for work. It gets to summer and I'm stuck. I don't mind wearing shorts in certain places but need some summer trousers that suit me. I don't know what to look for.

I've a high waist. Narrow waist and wide hips. Chunkier thighs. Bust f cup. A large 14 on bottom. 5'7 tall. Age 40 something. With my high waist and bust I can't wear tops tucked in. I don't suit patterns. What shape/style trousers should I look for and to wear with what kind of tops?

Also, thank you anyone who takes time to answer. You were all very helpful on my bikini post.

Did anyone have a link to a good site that helps with what to wear with what body shape?

Someone on another thread gave a run down of what they wear and why. They mentioned 3/4 sleeves so as not to have sleeves ending at widest point of body. It was a revelation to me as I've always liked 3/4 sleeves and now see that they end, and draw attention to, my high and narrow(er) waist. I know not to wear high necks, frills, tops that end at the widest part of my hips. That's the kind of thing I need to know for trousers but I'm clueless.

I have a similar figure OP. I wear wide-ish legged linen trousers, but also I have these. I have some high waisted paper bag trousers from Gap too (last years), like chinos. I disagree that you can't wear tops tucked in. I used to hide under voluminous tops but have recently embraced my shape and am happy to emphasise my waist (even if my generous bottom is on display).

I wear a lot of skirts and dresses during the summer and find that Boden do a lot of high waisted dresses (read the reviews for customers complaining about same) which suit our figure. Try the Amelia Dress. Sorry, I realise you didn't ask about dresses but I got carried away Grin

That's fine - I love dresses and do wear a lot of dresses in the summer but miss having something more casual like jeans but not jeans.

Thinking back I used to wear capri length chino type trousers a lot or wide leg linen. I tried on some cropped chinos today but they were too wide at the bottom.

I think I would be okay with high waist if I wore a very fitted top tucked in. I used to wear body-suits in the early 90s to fully show off my waist but not about that now... Shock

Have a look at Hush
I’m a 14/16 but shorter than you and I have 3 or 4 pairs from Hush. I’ve got girlfriend chinos, Amy joggers ( can’t get on with their Harems) and I’ve just bought a really comfy pair I can’t remember the name of but have tigers on - I was a bit dubious but I love them and they do them in plain colours too

I have these they're a lovely soft material and comfortable. I took the tie belt off though.

I bought some navy chinos from M and S -more tapered than straight - and they've been great.
