Ear Piercing

Might be a daft question, but where do you go to get your ears pierced? I know Claire's Accessories does it, but not sure I fancy that.

I had my ears pierced years ago, in a weird shop in a different area to where I am now. One of them has closed up due to not wearing earrings for years and I want to get it redone.

Go to a proper piercing place. Definately not claire’s. It used to be common to get ears pierced with a gun (Claire’s, local jewellers, etc) but guns cause scar tissue and cannot be sterilised properly. Proper piercing with a needle is more hygienic.

Do you mean like a tattoo parlour?

Find a tattoo parlour in the area with good reviews- they normally do piercing too.

Like you, I had mine done when I was young but they closed up. So a couple of years ago I went to our local piercing shop - that sell all the bars etc for other types of piercings & they did it. Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would.

Thanks, I will investigate!

What area are you in? Someone may be able to advise?

Definitely do not go to Claires for a multitude of reasons but I am sure someone will come on and say that they had no problems so no-one else will. A proper tattoo studio will use a needle and give aftercare (spinning a fresh piercing makes me skin crawl!!)

You need to get someone with a needle to re-pierce old holes. I've had secondary holes re-opened that way recently. It is sore because they are going through scar tissue and has taken an age to heal properly. You will have to teach yourself to sleep on your back. In dark moments I have regretted it

I can't sleep on my bag (sinus problems) so you may cause me to re-think!

I had my thirds on each ear pierced at a proper piercers with a needle last week. The difference in terms of initial pain and healing are light years apart! I can sleep on both sides already with minimal discomfort and already they feel ‘healed’ and I am generally a slow healer!

Any more ear piercings I get with 100 percent be with a needle.

I had my ear pierced on Saturday and I slept on it last night - it's all about your body and how you heal. However, I agree with everyone here that says to go to a tattoo parlour (do your research first to find a good one) and let them do it with a needle.
If you're really worried about sleeping on your back, could you sleep on the side which doesn't need to be re-pierced?
