How do you stop the wires come through on underwire bras?

I’m fed up of paying £35-40 and them being ruined when the wire pokes through. I don’t like hand washing them as I feel I want them to be washed properly in the machine.

My massive bras go in these and wash on the delicates cycle. NEVER get any wires poking through/out.

I hand wash mine due to the repeated failure of wires despite machine washing in individual lingerie bags.

I have H cup bras.

Mine go in a bag on a normal cycle - I only put them in the bag to stop the hooks snagging on other clothes - and I’ve never had a wire pop through, even on really ancient bras, so I’m not sure washing is the culprit. I agree that a couple of hours in a washing is probably more effective than hand-washing, although my motivation is simply that I could never be arsed to hand-wash them.

I guess there’s something about the wire conforming to your body that puts pressure on where the wire ends. Do they always go in he same place? If so, you could perhaps try reinforcing them by sewing something over that spot?

Hand washing and a bit of superglue before it happens.

This happens to mine all the time, I have a very bony rib cage/chest too so they really hurt. I have switched to non wired as every single bra, at every price range, dug in.

Thanks all! Advice duly noted. I will purchase the bra bag thing from Lakeland and give it a go 😊
