Help me find suncream that's not sticky

Rathkelter · 01/06/2019 21:46

Has anyone found one that absorbs well? I have tried and disliked so many that I'm showering as soon as I get home to get the stickiness off. It's annoying me already and it's only June!
Have tried: Riemann P20, Nivea in the blue bottles, Soltan and Once, Superdrug, Aldi and Lidl own brands...
I'm pasty so think I need SPF 30+
Boots N7 face is good, but too expensive to slather everywhere. Any recommendations?

we had a soltan beach one last year that was non sticky.

I hate how they change formulations/labelling every year so you need to try to find something new again.

NaturalBornWoman · 01/06/2019 21:52

Aerosols are non sticky and very convenient. You have to be careful not to breathe it in though.

I bought this last summer and it was great, easy to reapply, no sticky feeling and easy enough to do your own shoulders when out and about.
There’s a kids version as well which makes reapplying cream to the children miles easier too.

Gives good coverage as well, I didn’t get burned at all using it and I am pale enough to burn indoors if I’m too near a window.

Rathkelter · 01/06/2019 21:54

Thanks @sew I've taken note of that.
@natural can you remember which aerosol you tried?

There's an ambre solair thats. In sticky

GreenTulips · 01/06/2019 21:58

Try these - if you’re going abroad buy more than one bottle as they don’t seem to sell it

The small one is great for faces and kids shoulders and handbag friendly

I was in NZ earlier this year when I tried it so can't remember, but the one linked is an aerosol I think, it's called dry mist. I think there are a few now.

Rathkelter · 01/06/2019 21:59

@orange I just googled Soltan and they have about 8 different types of sun cream. Where to even start.

I use the altruist- it's made by a dermatologist- you can buy on amazon. I love it.

Rathkelter · 01/06/2019 22:00

@greentulips does it feel different to normal Nivea? I have found their cream gooey.

Rathkelter · 01/06/2019 22:02

Ill look up the altruist, thanks.
2 votes for Garnier dry mist so far

Australian Gold. It's bloody lovely and smells gorgeous, expensive though and hard to get in shops in the UK so I get it abroad or from Amazon.

JemimaCuddleMuck · 01/06/2019 22:05

Banana Boat Powder Dry is great.

PottyPotterer · 01/06/2019 22:05

The Garnier mist caught my throat so bad I couldn't use it. Second Altruist though, non sticky, non oily, just sinks right in and gives good protection.

MrsS92 · 01/06/2019 22:11

I love the Malibu dry oil spray. They do that in a 30. Weirdly it’s the only suncream brand that doesn’t irritate my Dd’s skin.
It’s so cheap, but has always done the trick.

Rathkelter · 01/06/2019 22:13

Great ideas, thank you all for replying!

The spray is a light (cold) mist like a hairspray but you don’t feel it when it’s dries - very quickly like seconds - you don’t get it all over your hands and don’t have to chase kids round trying to put it on - spray and go - really quick and easy to use

lhastingsmua · 01/06/2019 22:22

Be careful with Soltan - some of their products are greasy and leaves white marks on your clothes/ashy colour on skin - the Once range in the pale yellow packaging in particular.

For my face, I use Kiehl’s.

I haven’t bought this yet but Selfridges have an interesting brand. I tried it in store and it wasn’t greasy at all.

I’ve ordered altruist spf 30 from amazon on a MN recommendation and I have to say it’s good so far. I put it on my face every morning. Scent free and it goes under makeup. I don’t find it at all sticky and don’t even notice I’m wearing it.

suze28 · 01/06/2019 22:25

I've just ordered a couple of bottles of Altruist SPF30 from Amazon to try

WelshMoth · 01/06/2019 22:28

Watching with interest!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 01/06/2019 22:31

I apply my sun cream with a tanning mitt. No sticky fingers!

yellowsun · 01/06/2019 22:44

I like ultra sun or aldi’s Sun creams.

NaturalBornWoman · 02/06/2019 05:14

I remembered. The one I had was Neutrogena. I haven't looked for it here in the U.K. but there are other aerosol/dry mist products. I think it's a game changer, especially as I use spf 50.
