Hair removal options

I've name changed for this.

Earlier this year I had a peri-anal abscess which I was told was probably caused by an ingrown hair.
It's healed well but was pretty traumatic if I'm honest and I really don't want a repeat.

Since then I've been really nervous about bikini line hair removal and have avoided it almost completely. Before this I would shave but I'm worried about ingrown hairs again.

I've never been waxed and honestly don't know if I could face going to a salon and getting my bits out (too old and fat).

Hair removal cream seems like a massive faff and also very awkward to try and do accurately.

I know the big girl option is to get someone to do this for me but I'm so nervous. I'm happy with a tidy up round the edges as I quite like a fuller bush.

So, good women of mumsnet, tell me about your bush management approaches. Hopefully there'll be someone else with the abscess issue who will understand my fears too.

I use a bikini trimmer rather than shaving off completely

@evamommy I agree but I'd like to be tidier and was hoping for something a bit longer lasting than trimming but I guess it's the least risky option.
