Evening dress help needed

I'm struggling to find a dress to wear to an important family event. It's cocktail dresses rather than black tie but I am not worried about being overdressed. I'm a size 18-20 and looking for something in a quality fabric. I have had some good finds in Max Mara but I'm not loving the colours of their current collection.

Please throw some ideas at me because I'm getting desperate!,

Thank you for the suggestions so far. The shoes are really comfortable as well as being gorgeous.

I'm looking fir something in a premium fabric preferably in black, navy or silver. A line is best and I don't mind if it is long or short.

Have you had a look at Bloomingdales? They ship to UK very reliably and the range of dresses in the size you want is far greater than here. (Used to order from them when I was a size 28)
It will be American sizing so you want 14-16.

Thanks @StCharlotte - I love a navy dress, and I find the scuba fabric flattering ( I detest 'shapewear' after a Bridget Jones style disaster at a wedding.
