Zara clothes sizing - I’m suddenly an M in bottoms

Either I’ve porked up a bit too much over winter or Zara clothes have got smaller. I’m a size 10, and have bought a pair of cropped trousers from Zara in a medium and a small and the Small are a bit too tight! Shock I think I’ll have to keep the medium but now I’m thinking I need to diet Confused

I have clothes from Zara ranging from XS to L, and I am also a size 10 (a Topshop size 10, I would probably go down a size in somewhere like M&S). Zara sizing is mad.

It's not you, it's Zara!

I think Zara sizing can be different between their own items too - for example they might sell something that they demand to be worn ‘oversized’, so a 10 fits more like a 14 to fit their desired aesthetic. Which is annoying for people who need an XS as the oversized fit can just be unflattering/unwearable.

I’m a short 6/8 but in Zara I have bought skirts, dresses and trousers in anything between a XS-M because of their random sizing.

What cuppa said.

You poor thing! Are you OK? Flowers

Zara make their sizes up. I'm a size 12 and have tops in a S and trousers in XL. I'm top heavy!

DameXanaduBramble · 30/05/2019 13:39

Yep, one dress a completely different size to the other. Tops different again, its crazy!

Nemesia · 30/05/2019 13:39

Before Christmas I bought a couple of pairs of jeans in a small, they fitted well and are even a bit loose round the waist. Last week I went in and the small was too tight. If anything I have lost a bit of weight. Bonkers.

I’m a size 8-10 and only medium fits me in Zara.

lilbubsmama · 30/05/2019 15:15

I don't think OP is complaining at being a M from a vanity perspective (so maybe the biscuits and the sarcy responses are unessesary) but I think she's highlighting that a L would be a size 12 and so that's it anyone above a 12 can't shop at Zara...

ElspethFlashman · 30/05/2019 15:18

It is true that an L is a 12 in Zara. I went in and asked for a 14 and was told that they only had XL in a very few select items.

That was the moment I gave a big old FUCK YOU to Zara in my head.

Of course it's easier not to go in nowadays since their designs are really awful.

I have found the sizing in Zara to be a bit off on some things. Even with the same item.

I once bought the same t shirt for myself and my daughter (she doesn’t live with me and we wouldn’t dress the same when we’re together) and I ordered her a small and myself a medium as although I’m slim I like a looser fit with some things. When they arrived there was hardly any difference, a few millimetres if that.

thedevilinablackdress · 30/05/2019 16:03

Why would you need to diet? Buy the ones that fit. Zara sizing is tiny. I usually wear 12-14 trousers and never go in Zara for them as nothing fits.

Miniloso · 30/05/2019 19:47

I don’t like their clothes either. Very cheap material generally and over priced.
