Comfortable sandals that are also pretty... do they exist?!

I’m suffering pain in the ball of my left foot and all my pretty flat sandals are killing me. It’s making me so sad! I mourn the endless summer swearing flip flops 😢

I know I need to wear ones with cushioned soles to support my foot, but all the ones I see make me heave as they are so ugly. Help! Show me pretty summer footwear that will not cripple me.

These from fitflops are just about passable. I've seen them IRL and they're not hideous! www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/tia-leather-sandals-p-L36#011

Readysetcake · 30/05/2019 07:25

Those to timberland are maybe a bit too chunky in the strap. I always think chunky straps make me look dumpy. But maybe they’ve something similar with less straps. Thanks!

Mmmm never been keen on the look of fitflops, but they don’t look horrendous. I admit I’m not keen on the look of the sole but then I may not have much choice as my traditional choices are killing! Thank you 😊

There was a big thread in this about 3 weeks ago. Search back thru the topic.

I was all ready to be scathing about the seasalt ones but some of them are really quite nice!

RavenLG · 30/05/2019 09:24

I recently got these from Dorothy Perkins in both tan and black.

Not sure how 'pretty' they are but a few people have said they are nice. Comfy so far.

I think ANY sandal will look pretty if it's got pretty feet inside it.
Small, tanned and manicured feet will look good in anything.
Mine are mozzarella white, fungal infected big toes and size 42.
I like a closed toe espadrille as a result Grin

Ninkaninus · 30/05/2019 09:33

Thick straps won’t make you look dumpy unless you dress or act dumpy. They’re very on trend at the moment and go with pretty much everything. It’s just a matter of picking well.

I’d be going timberland, Birkenstocks or fitflop.

I’ve got three pairs of fitflops, and have had loads over the years. They’re very comfortable and I pick the pretty options. Although I’m looking for a plain tan pair now. They’re my go-to for daily walking.

Ellapaella · 30/05/2019 09:35

@RavenLG I've just ordered those DP sandals after seeing your link. Love the tan ones. Are the fit true to size? I got wide fit as my feet are pretty spade like.

QueenJulian · 30/05/2019 09:39

They are expensive but Ancient Greek do delicate looking sandals with a padded sole. I got a pair of non padded ones last year and walked around all summer in them.

RavenLG · 30/05/2019 09:39

@Ellapaella I’ve got them on today actually. I don’t know how “true to size” they are as I’m never actually sure what size I am I’m either a 4 or a 5. I ended up with a 4 in these after trying the 5s on and they were too big. Sorry that doesn’t help you at all Blush

scrappydappydoo · 30/05/2019 09:41

Crocs sandals (NOT the clogs) are amazingly comfy and have lots of different styles.

Mesmeri · 30/05/2019 09:49

Merrell! So comfortable, so practical, but also elegant. They do LOTS of different styles of sandals, some very pretty (in my opinion) but all with a proper trekking sole. I love them, because I do a lot of walking/running around but have quite a feminine style (really don't like clumpy classic trekking sandals) prefer to wear dresses in summer... these have been a game-changer for me.

Annasgirl · 30/05/2019 10:40

Oh those Seasalt ones look fab - thanks for the link. I'm off on a city break this Summer and I needed something a bit dressier to add to the Birkenstocks.

dontgobaconmyheart · 30/05/2019 11:22

Ooh I tried those DP sandals because I thought they looked ok for the price- not for me though as they really rubbed and came up big even for wide fit so I definitely needed to size down. The straps just rubbed, you know when you can just tell they'll be awful to walk in. Perhaps because they aren't leather, not sure. I do have hideously sensitive feet though!

Surprised by how nice some of the saltwater ones are though, I would never have thought to look there!

pinegreen · 30/05/2019 11:28

Office Hallie sandals are unbelievably comfy and look good. Lots of colours as well.

Readysetcake · 30/05/2019 11:28

Ooo some of those sea salt ones are lovely! I feel a shopping trip coming on.

Thanks for the brand suggestions all.

I have merrell ones that I love for when I’m walking, beach etc. But I wanted some fancier ones for going out.

I second Crocs sandals. I live in their Hurache flats because they have just enough height to not feel like I'm walking flat on the ground, they're pretty, super comfy and waterproof!

APurpleSquirrel · 30/05/2019 11:39

I have these in black suede & they're really cushioned & comfy & I think they're nice looking:

INeedAFlerken · 30/05/2019 11:39

Ecco make very comfortable sandals.

Seasalt and Whitestuff also have some nice looking sandals.

SyrilSneer · 30/05/2019 11:44

I ordered these www.dunelondon.com/lorde-cross-strap-cork-sole-sandal-0079500620018483/?cswatch=1 last night as I am finding the soles on my Saltwaters too thin and it’s giving me hip pain . These were the least offensive, all the thicker soles seem to have hideous white bits which is so annoying but this pair have less of it at least.

Greenteandchives · 30/05/2019 11:48

Don’t be afraid to look at Hotter sandals. Some of them are really nice, and oh so comfortable.

Greenteandchives · 30/05/2019 11:51

These are Hotter Shimmer.

I got some really lovely cushioned sole ones from dune last year. They’re super comfy and look lovely. They’ve worn well and I recently walked 15km in them for work.
