Washing a Joules waterproof coat

I've got a Joules Coast coat. It needs a wash. I know the washing instructions say 30c but I'm worried it won't be waterproof afterwards. Should I get special cleaning stuff or will a normal 30C wash with normal washing powder be ok?

No don't wash it as normal. It wont be waterproof at all if you do. You need to ensure your machine is free of any detergent so give it a really good scrub in the drawer and i usually put it through a 90 degree wash before waterproofing anything. Then wash it with a waterproofing agent. I use NikWax. You can get it in outdoor places or eBay. There will probably be other brands but i like that one.

Thanks - I've used NikWax for camping stuff previously and will give it a go.
