Can we talk NARS foundations for pale skins?

I know I need to be colour matched but would welcome experiences.
I have used Dior Star as my best of all foundation but it's now discontinued and don't like the replacement. Bobbi Brown Stick and then Skin Foundation are others I'm 'okay' with.

I used Nars Glow before in Gobi and found it lovely but too yellow. I am pale and neutral.

I wondered about Deauxville which is next shade up to Gobi but neutral, or maybe Salzberg.

In their Glow foundation it's described as pale/ neutral, but in the Long Wear Radiant it's describes as Pale/Golden.

Annoys me they don't give samples so it means seeking out a store where there is really good lighting before deciding!

Deauville is basically Fair/Neutral. I take Ivory in most things and had that shade in the Sheer Glow. Its definitely not yellowy.

I’m neutral and pale and use Mont Blanc.

I’m Mortician Addams calibre of pale. No normal “high street brands” do a shade that’s a good match - everything makes me look like I’ve been dunked head first in a packet of wotsits Confused

Urban Decay All-Nighter in shade 0.5, and Too Faced Born This Way in shade “Swan” in winter and “Snow” in summer are the best matches and best quality I’ve ever found!
They are quite pricey at £29ish a bottle, but it lasts me ages so I don’t mind!

Thanks!

Mont Blanc is too pale for me.

Porcelain in Bobbi Brown is almost too pale and the best match for me there is the new 'half shade' in the stick which is neutral porcelain. I use Ivory in the concealers.

I couldn't get a match at Nars. She wanted to put something completely wrong all over my face and as she turned round I ran off. Grin I don't understand the no samples policy, I've never bought without trying it at home first.

Actually, Space NK do Nars and they'll usually give samples (and might be able to suggest another brand that will work for you). Worth a try?

JinglingHellsBells · 29/05/2019 20:40

Space NK is on the list!

I've had samples from nars before for foundation. Last one was Christmas time

Have you used their online colour matchjng? Its on the us site www.narscosmetics.com/USA/foundation-finder.html

Ive bought terre neuve and mont blanc, very pale skin with more of a pink undertone. People sell samples on ebay but pretty expensive i think

Processedpea · 29/05/2019 22:22

I use terre neuve and am pale and neutral. Def ask for a small pot from space nk

Moongirl10 · 29/05/2019 22:30

I use Born this way - Snow or L’Oréal Infallible- Porcelain.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 29/05/2019 22:54

I'm pale and neutral and have used Terre Neuve but tbh I find all the Nars foundations too yellow. Agree about a tester from Space NK though in my experience they always recommend a shade too dark so ask for the one above as well.

I've gotten several samples of foundation from sephora previously, including nars. I ended up buying the makeup forever water based foundation which looked like my skin but way better.

ElspethFlashman · 30/05/2019 07:49

Actually in the tinted moisturiser I did use Terre Nueve now that I recall.

flippinada · 30/05/2019 07:57

It sounds like your skin tone and shade is very much like mine. If you want to stick to Nars, Deauville will likely be your best match although do try and get to a store and get matched if you can (not possible for everyone I know).

I've tried the Longwear Radiant in Deauville and it's lovely

Have you you had a look at any foundation matching sites? They might be helpful. I find this one to be the best:
