Camouflage makeup for skin disfigurement?

SC10 · 29/05/2019 12:11

I have got a disfigurement on the side of my face which I am becoming more self concious about (it looks like blue bruising).
Could anyone recommend a concealer that I could use on that area rather than over my whole face please? I have very pale skin.

Yes...I have similar op and also have very pale skin. There are a few options.

Kryolan do a very, very good concealor pallette....one with a number of different tones in it which you can then mix or choose one which suits.

Another choice is one you can get on prescription which I can't remember the name for but speak to your GP about it. What these products have in common is that they're very highly pigmented.

Read this too www.lupusuk.org.uk/skin-camouflage/

I know you might not have Lupus but at the bottom of the page is a list of recommended products.

Personally I haven't found anything better than Kryolan. Their website has tonnes of products too. Another thing I do when I don't want to use the full-on concealor is use a dry foundation with a wet brush. At the moment I am using Infallible by Loreal. I apply primer, let it dry and then use the dry foundation...

Here's the Kryolan concealor circle. Check out their powders and brushes too!

I also have a mark on my face that I conceal.
I use Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for face and body. I am also very pale and use shade 1C1 Cool Bone.
An alternative, slightly less densely pigmented is Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer ( I use shade Vanilla).
Ask for a sample of the EL makeup? Then you can see how it suits you .

Thank you both so much for replying, I am very grateful for the recommendations x

DW is amazing and worth investigating. Important to get the right shade though otherwise it looks flat and dry, they are good at giving samples to try at home ime.

Vichy also do one called Dermablend. You can get it in some boots.

Death that's the one the NHS give on prescription! I couldn't remember.... It's very good.

I went to a Cover FX demonstration once where one of the girls took her makeup off and showed she had vitiligo. It had covered it all up and it didn't look thick or caked on. She was using the custom cover drops, which are pure pigment - you mix them with eg moisturiser so can have as full coverage or light as you like. This means you can mix different coverage for different parts of your face. I've used them myself and they are very good/versatile.
