Do I NEED an $$$$$ shampoo to maintain my colour treatment?

I've just paid a lot of money to have my hair coloured (balayage with some foils, looks very natural but brightens up my whole look).

The stylist tried to convince me that I NEED to purchase their very expensive shampoo and conditioner and that if I didn't the colour would go brassy very soon. I have a knee jerk reaction to hard sell so I said no and was a bit frosty with her.

I haven't washed it yet- now I'm worried it really will go brassy! She said any cheap supermarket products all have the same ingredient in them that I need to avoid.

Is this true? Did I need to buy a better quality shampoo, and can you recommend one? Preferably something with natural ingredients.

She is talking arse. Some salons do commission on sales. If it does go brassy there are purple shampoos that will sort that out - but I'm sure it won't.
