Had my investment bank business formal interview outfit improved. How is it now?

I want to personally thank everyone for suggestions and feedback givens in yesterday's thread. Glad the interview is scheduled next week so I still have some time to spare.

Some of you suggested that dresses are more popular than suits and shirts. I get it. But my style is a bit masculine and I love the powerful look of a suit outfit so I will stick to a suit.

Now I had improved my outfit combo based on your opinions. How is it now?

Oh sorry, I did read through the thread but must have missed that!

ChequersDog · 29/05/2019 12:32

I still can’t see her saying anything about location other than ‘I’m in the US now’.

SoHotADragonRetired · 29/05/2019 12:36

It was stated on her previous thread about her original outfit. Fwiw, I agree the standard is a lot more conservative and staid in the US and this would look more normal there.

Elllllle · 29/05/2019 12:40

I still think "a dress with mismatched jacket" sounds terribly frumpy. Could one of you 3 or 4 posters in front office recruitment pls link to something or a link of a general look you would recommend?

SuburbanCrofter · 29/05/2019 12:59

I don't work in investment banking, but am I right in thinking that the look we want OP to go for is Kristin Scott Thomas in Fleabag?

CassandraCross · 29/05/2019 13:07

You seem determined to wear that shirt/style of shirt despite what everyone is saying, OP.

SoHotADragonRetired · 29/05/2019 13:16

Kristen's top is a good example of the softer style of top most of us have been recommending, Crofter, although her outfit in general would read a tiny bit ageing if the OP is under 45 (it's the tweed pencil).

Which one is she? The one with the dull grey pussy bow blouse with odd length sleeves? Where is the tweed pencil? What would she wear in theory with this blouse?

Rooftree · 29/05/2019 13:30

Wasn’t KST wearing trousers in fleabag? I don’t remember a tweed pencil skirt

SoHotADragonRetired · 29/05/2019 13:36

To be fair I thought it was a skirt but I can't tell for sure, and it doesn't look tweedy in other shots. Inexplicably there are no full length pics of her outfit.

I’m pretty sure she was wearing wide leg trousers.

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 29/05/2019 13:52

I worked part time in Thomas Pink as a student in the early 90s and those shirts in OP link are exactly the same as back then. And they are still dull and unflattering! Sorry OP but I would def ditch those and take some advice on a softer style!

BlandAndBoring · 29/05/2019 16:08

I'm shocked by the price of the kitten heels! They look like something I could get from new look for £20!

What’s the lawyer program on a while back with the family of female lawyers. It was Nicola something. She was a divorce lawyer. She looked amazing.

Super stylish, but with an edge.

StCharlotte · 29/05/2019 20:36

Atalune

It was The Split with Nicola Walker and yes, her style in that was fabulous - in fact I think there was a thread on S&B about it most weeks!
